; born 1964) is a modern Burmese culture, Burmese traditional musician who is trying to bring this music to the world music, world stage. He is a master of the pat waing or ''saing waing'', a traditional Burmese drum-circle instrument; the player sits in the middle of a horseshoe-shaped shell made of elaborately carved wood and decorated with gold leaf. Bringing the Burmese ''Pat Waing'' to America Naing performed with Western musicians for the first time with the Bang on a Can, Bang on a Can All-Stars. Theikpan Soe Myint Naing ( my, သိပ္ပံစိုးမြင့်နိုင်) is a writer of children's books in Burma. He has received a National Literary Award and has twice received Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Awards. Tekkatho Phone Naing ( my, တက္ကသိုလ် ဘုန်းနိုင်, 16 January 1930 – 2002) was a famous Burmese writer, primarily known for lovelorn stories that were most popular in the 1950s to 1970s. His "sad" stories still represent some of the best popular Burmese story writing in the postwar era. Overview Tekkatho Phone Naing was the pen name of Khin Maung Tint (), a lifelong university professor and later Chancellor of University of Moulmein. He received a Master's degree in psychology from Columbia University. During the 1988 popular uprising against the government of Burma, he called for restraint and true democracy. The military junta forced him to retire from his position as Rector of the Institute of Education, Yangon. He died in 2002 at the age of 72. Myint Naing ( my, မြင့်နိုင်) is a Burmese politician and former political prisoner who currently serves as Chief Minister of Sagaing Region and previously served as an Amyotha Hluttaw member of parliament for Sagaing Region Constituency № 3. In the 1990 Burmese general election, he was elected as an Pyithu Hluttaw MP, winning a majority of 30,628 (76% of the votes), but was never allowed to assume his seat.
