Nacional (weekly)
''Nacional'' is a Croatian weekly news magazine published in Zagreb. Founded in 1995 and owned by photographer and journalist Ivo Pukanić, ''Nacional'' quickly gained a reputation for reporting and critical articles about the conservative government led by the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), which was in power during the 1990s. During most of its existence its main rival was ''Globus'' published by Europapress Holding (EPH). History ''Nacional'' was launched in 1995 by Denis Kuljiš, Ivo Pukanić and other prominent journalists dissatisfied with the editorial policies of then popular weekly ''Globus''. Soon a bitter competition developed between two magazines, because they tried to grab the same readership and used the same techniques of investigative journalism. Ivo Pukanić
Ivo Pukanić (21 January 1961 – 23 October 2008) was a Croatian journalist. He was best known as editor-in-chief of the once influential Croatian political weekly ''Nacional''. In 2008, Pukanić was assassinated by members of Croatian and Serbian organized crime groups. Life and career Pukanić was born in Zagreb. He graduated from the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Zagreb in 1983, after which he started working for Vjesnik publishing house as a photographer for two of their weekly magazines, ''Start'' and ''Studio''. In 1992 he started his career as a journalist and editor at the popular weekly ''Globus'' published by Europapress Holding. He left ''Globus'' only three years later in 1995 to start his own weekly publication, ''Nacional'', where he held the post of editor-in-chief until 2000. Assassination Of Ivo Pukanić
The assassination of Ivo Pukanić happened on 23 October 2008 in Zagreb, Croatia, when a remote-detonation car bomb fitted on a motorcycle outside the ''Nacional'' newspaper's premises killed the owner of the newspaper, Ivo Pukanić, and Niko Franjić, its marketing manager, and injured two more people. The explosion occurred in the centre of the capital at 18:10 local time (16:10 GMT). Numerous arrests of suspects around the country followed. A subsequent police investigation accused Croatian and Serbian organized crime groups of perpetrating the bombing. Eight people suspected of having connections to organised crime groups were indicted. Six were later convicted over the murders with prison terms ranging from 15 to 40 years. Mass is an intrinsic property of a body. It was traditionally believed to be related to the quantity of matter in a physical body, until the discovery of the atom and particle physics. Denis Kuljiš
Denis Kuljiš (8 December 1951 – 18 August 2019) was a Croatian writer, entrepreneur and journalist. Kuljiš was born in Split, Yugoslavia. He studied linguistics and sociology at the Faculty of Humanities in Zagreb. He frequently wrote for the press since 1972. From 1979 he wrote for communist youth magazine ''Polet'' and from 1980 for ''Vjesnik''. He worked as an editor and journalist for ''Start'', '' Danas'' and ''Studio''. In 1991, Kuljiš and partners founded Media Press, a company which launched an independent political weekly ''Globus''. He was an editor-in-chief for five years, and in that time, the company evolved into Europapress Holding (EPH), the largest press publishing house in Croatia.
