NXT Heatwave
NXT Heatwave was a television special, special List of WWE NXT special episodes, episode of WWE's weekly television series ''WWE NXT, NXT'', broadcast on the USA Network. It took place on August 16, 2022, at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida for their NXT (WWE brand), NXT WWE brand extension, brand division. The event was the first ECW Heat Wave, Heatwave produced under the WWE banner, as well as the first to be held since Heat Wave (2000), 2000 and the eighth overall. Five matches were contested at the event. In the main event, Bron Breakker defeated JD McDonagh to retain the NXT Championship. In other prominent matches, Tony D'Angelo defeated Santos Escobar in a Street Fight match, Street Fight, which banned Escobar from NXT, and in the opening bout, Carmelo Hayes defeated Giovanni Vinci to retain the NXT North American Championship. NXT is a brand of the American professional wrestling promotion WWE that was introduced on February 23, 2010. In professional wrestling, a heel (also known as a ''rudo'' in '' lucha libre'') is a wrestler who portrays a villain, "bad guy", or "rulebreaker", and acts as an antagonist to the faces, who are the heroic protagonist or "good guy" characters. HHG Corporation, doing business as Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), was a professional wrestling promotion and media company that was based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
