NWA Hard Times (2020)
Hard Times (2020) (stylized as Hard × Times) was the first Hard Times professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event promoted by the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA). It took place on January 24, 2020, in Atlanta, Georgia, at the GPB Studios. The show featured a tournament to crown a new NWA World Television Champion, which was won by Ricky Starks. The event also featured wrestlers from Ring of Honor, including Dan Maff, and Villain Enterprises members Marty Scurll and Flip Gordon. Production Background During the December 15, 2019 Into the Fire pay-per-view (PPV), the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) announced that their next PPV would be held on January 24, 2020 and be called "Hard Times". Tim Storm
Timothy Scoggins (born February 18, 1964), better known by his ring name Tim Storm, is an American professional wrestler currently signed to the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA). He is a former NWA World Heavyweight Champion. Professional wrestling career Early career (1995–2015) In 2001, Storm debuted for the Arlington, Texas-based Professional Championship Wrestling, where he would spend a majority of his career. Storm formed the Dark Circle with longtime partner Apocalypse and Shadow. Storm and Apocalypse would win the PCW tag team titles twice between 2002 and 2004, while in August 2005 Storm captured the PCW Heavyweight Championship, defeating Steve DeMarco in a steel cage match and would have one of the promotion's longest reigns as champion. Marty Scurll
Martin Scurll (born 26 July 1988) is an English professional wrestler. He is best known for his work in Ring of Honor (ROH) as the leader of the stable Villain Enterprises, where he was a one-time ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship and a one-time ROH World Television Champion, as well as being a former member of the Bullet Club stable. He also worked for New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), where he is a former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Champion. From May 2017 to late October 2018, he was a member of the Bullet Club stable, which splintered into the new faction The Elite. In professional wrestling, a face (babyface) is a heroic, "good guy" or "fan favorite" wrestler, booked (scripted) by the promotion with the aim of being cheered by fans, and acts as a protagonist to the heels, who are the villainous antagonist or "bad guy" characters. Traditionally, they wrestle within the rules and avoid cheating (in contrast to the villains who use illegal moves and call in additional wrestlers to do their work for them) while behaving positively towards the referee and the audience. Such characters are also referred to as blue-eyes in British wrestling and ''técnicos'' in ''lucha libre''. In professional wrestling, a heel (also known as a ''rudo'' in '' lucha libre'') is a wrestler who portrays a villain, "bad guy", or "rulebreaker", and acts as an antagonist to the faces, who are the heroic protagonist or "good guy" characters. Not everything a heel wrestler does must be villainous: heels need only to be booed or jeered by the audience to be effective characters, although most truly successful heels embrace other aspects of their devious personalities, such as cheating to win or using foreign objects. "The role of a heel is to get 'heat,' which means spurring the crowd to obstreperous hatred, and generally involves cheating and pretty much any other manner of socially unacceptable behavior that will get the job done."
