The Royal Norwegian Council for Scientific and Industrial Research ( no, Norges Teknisk-Naturvitenskapelige Forskningsråd) or NTNF was the first of five research councils established in Norway. It existed from 1946 until the end of 1992, when the five merged to create The Research Council of Norway. The council was partially independent, but was ultimately subordinate to the Ministry of Trade and Industry. Erik Anker
Erik Anker (15 October 1903 – 15 August 1994) was a Norway, Norwegian yacht racing, sailor and businessperson. Early life and Olympics He was born in Berg, Østfold as a son of Johan Anker. He was a brother of Christian August Anker (1896–1982), Christian August Anker, and a stepson of Nini Roll Anker. He was married to Swedish citizen Eva Esther Laurell. In sailing he represented the Royal Norwegian Yacht Club. At the 1928 Summer Olympics he won the gold medal as crew member of the Norwegian boat ''Norna'' in the 6 metre class event. The crew was Johan Anker, Erik Anker, Olav V of Norway, Crown Prince Olav of Norway and Håkon Bryhn. Anker later chaired the Royal Norwegian Yacht Club from 1949 to 1951, and became an honorary member in 1977. The Research Council (also the Research Council of Norway; no, Norges forskningsråd) is a Norwegian government agency that funds research and innovation projects. On behalf of the Government, the Research Council invests NOK 11,9 billion (2021) annually. The Research Council is responsible for promoting basic and applied research and innovation. This is done by managing research funding and by advising the authorities on research policy, among other things through proposals for the research budget in the National Budget. Rolf Skår (born 13 May 1941) is a Norwegian engineer. He was born in Karmøy as the son of a farmer and fisherman. In 1966 Skår graduated from Norwegian Institute of Technology where he studied under Prof. Balchen. During his studies he had several periods abroad. In the summer of 1963 he went to Switzerland to work for an electrical products manufacturer. The following year he took part in the CERN Summer Student Programme working with digital technology and during the summer 1965 he worked for NATO Saclant in La Spezia, Italy.
