NK Izola
Nogometni klub Izola ( en, Izola Football Club), commonly referred to as NK Izola or simply Izola, was a Slovenian football club from Izola. They played in the Slovenian top division for five consecutive seasons during the early 1990s. The club was dissolved after the 1995–96 Slovenian PrvaLiga season. History The club was founded in 1923 as ''Club Calcistico Giovanile Isola d'Istria'', when the city of Isola was part of Italy. It was known as ''Ampelea Isola d'Istria'' between 1930 and 1946, and played in Serie C between 1937 and 1946. Italian internationals Giuseppe Grezar, Alberto Eliani and Aredio Gimona played with Ampelea in the 1943–44 season. Due to the occupation of Istria and the Trieste territory by the Yugoslav Army, it was forced to change its name to the more proletarian sounding ''Unione Sportiva Isola'', and finally to ''NK Izola'' in 1951. Mladinski nogometni klub Izola ( en, Youth Izola Football Club), commonly referred to as MNK Izola or simply Izola, is a Slovenian football club from Izola which competes in the Slovenian Third League. Izola was established in 1996 after the dissolution of NK Izola, a club which folded following the 1995–96 Slovenian PrvaLiga season due to high financial debt. The 1992–93 UEFA Cup was won by Juventus, who beat Borussia Dortmund 6–1 on aggregate in the final, a record score for a UEFA Cup final. It was the third victory in the competition for the Italian team (first club to reach this record). Three seasons had now passed since the ban on English clubs in European competitions as a result of the Heysel disaster (1985) had been lifted, and for this campaign the number of English clubs in the competition was increased from one to two. Slovenian Republic Football League
The Slovenian Republic Football League ( sl, Slovenska republiška nogometna liga) was the highest football league in Slovenia within the Yugoslav football system. During the time of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia it was known as the Ljubljana Subassociation League ( sl, Prvenstvo Ljubljanske nogometne podzveze) and was one of the qualifying tournaments for the Yugoslav Championship. Trieste Operation
The Race for Trieste, was a battle during the Second World War that took place during early May 1945. It led to a joint allied victory for the Yugoslav Partisans and 2nd New Zealand Division and a joint occupation of Trieste, but relations soon deteriorated and led to a nine-year dispute over the territory of Trieste.
