Nürtingen () is a town on the river Neckar in the district of Esslingen in the state of Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany. History The following events occurred, by year: *1046: First mention of ''Niuritingin'' in the document of Speyer. Heinrich III gave Nürtingen as a gift to the chapter of Speyer *around 1335: Nürtingen received city rights *1421: From this date, Nürtingen was the domicile of the Württemberg widows of former sovereigns. *1602: The Maientag, a famous folklore procession and celebration, was first recorded *1634: Half of the population died in the Thirty Years' War and of the plague *1750: 133 buildings were burned down in the great fire *1783/1784: Friedrich Hölderlin and Friedrich Wilhelm Joseph von Schelling were pupils of the Latin school (German: Lateinschule). Esslingen (district)
Esslingen is a ''Landkreis'' (district) in the centre of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Neighboring districts are (from north clockwise) Rems-Murr, Göppingen, Reutlingen, Böblingen and the district-free city Stuttgart. Until 15 October 1964 the district's name was written officially as Landkreis Eßlingen. History The district dates back to the Oberamt Esslingen, which was created when the previously free imperial city of Esslingen am Neckar became part of Württemberg in 1803. It was changed several times in the course of history. Since 1810 it belonged to the ''Landvogtei Rothenberg'' and from 1818 until it was dissolved in 1924 to the ''Neckarkreis''. In 1934 the ''Oberamt'' was renamed ''Kreis Eßlingen'' and the now termed ''Landkreis Eßlingen'' was enlarged by several municipalities of the dissolved ''Oberamt Stuttgart'' and the Kreise ''Schorndorf, Kirchheim unter Teck and Göppingen'' on 1 October 1938. The Nürtingen-Geislingen University (German: ''Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Umwelt Nürtingen-Geislingen'') is a public university of applied sciences based in Nürtingen and Geislingen an der Steige, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany. History The „Höhere Landbauschule“ (Higher Agricultural College) was founded in 1949, but the name was later changed to School of Agricultural Engineering. A statute of the 6th of February 1972 integrated it into the University of Applied Science of Nuertingen. Nuertingen University originally offered courses in Agriculture, Business Economics and Landscape Maintenance and in 1988 built a second facility in Geislingen an der Steige with courses in Automotive Industry, Economic Law, Health and Tourist Management and Energy and Recycling Management. Friedrich Hölderlin
Johann Christian Friedrich Hölderlin (, ; ; 20 March 1770 – 7 June 1843) was a German poet and philosopher. Described by Norbert von Hellingrath as "the most German of Germans", Hölderlin was a key figure of German Romanticism. Particularly due to his early association with and philosophical influence on Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel and Friedrich Wilhelm Joseph Schelling, he was also an important thinker in the development of German Idealism. Born in Lauffen am Neckar, Hölderlin had a childhood marked by bereavement. His mother intended for him to enter the Lutheran ministry, and he attended the Tübinger Stift, where he was friends with Hegel and Schelling. He graduated in 1793 but could not devote himself to the Christian faith, instead becoming a tutor. Two years later, he briefly attended the University of Jena, where he interacted with Johann Gottlieb Fichte and Novalis, before resuming his career as a tutor. Neckar
The Neckar () is a river in Germany, mainly flowing through the southwestern state of Baden-Württemberg, with a short section through Hesse. The Neckar is a major right tributary of the Rhine. Rising in the Schwarzwald-Baar-Kreis near Schwenningen in the ''Schwenninger Moos'' conservation area at a height of above sea level, it passes through Rottweil, Rottenburg am Neckar, Kilchberg, Tübingen, Wernau, Nürtingen, Plochingen, Esslingen, Stuttgart, Ludwigsburg, Marbach, Heilbronn and Heidelberg, before discharging on average of water into the Rhine at Mannheim, at above sea level, making the Neckar its 4th largest tributary, and the 10th largest river in Germany. Friedrich Wilhelm Joseph Schelling (; 27 January 1775 – 20 August 1854), later (after 1812) von Schelling, was a German philosopher. Standard histories of philosophy make him the midpoint in the development of German idealism, situating him between Johann Gottlieb Fichte, his mentor in his early years, and Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, his one-time university roommate, early friend, and later rival. Interpreting Schelling's philosophy is regarded as difficult because of its evolving nature. Schelling's thought in the main has been neglected, especially in the English-speaking world. An important factor in this was the ascendancy of Hegel, whose mature works portray Schelling as a mere footnote in the development of idealism. Free Voters (german: Freie Wähler, FW or FWG) in Germany may belong to an association of people which participates in an election without having the status of a registered political party. Usually it involves a locally organized group of voters in the form of a registered association (eV). In most cases, Free Voters campaign only at the local-government level, standing for city councils and for mayoralties. Free Voters tend to achieve their most successful electoral results in rural areas of southern Germany, appealing most to conservative voters who prefer local decisions to party politics.
