Nürtingen-Geislingen University Of Applied Science
The Nürtingen-Geislingen University (German: ''Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Umwelt Nürtingen-Geislingen'') is a public university of applied sciences based in Nürtingen and Geislingen an der Steige, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany. History The „Höhere Landbauschule“ (Higher Agricultural College) was founded in 1949, but the name was later changed to School of Agricultural Engineering. A statute of the 6th of February 1972 integrated it into the University of Applied Science of Nuertingen. Nuertingen University originally offered courses in Agriculture, Business Economics and Landscape Maintenance and in 1988 built a second facility in Geislingen an der Steige with courses in Automotive Industry, Economic Law, Health and Tourist Management and Energy and Recycling Management. In the frame of the Bologna Process for Internationalisation of Professional Qualifications all Diploma courses were transformed into Bachelor courses. Nürtingen () is a town on the river Neckar in the district of Esslingen in the state of Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany. Geislingen an der Steige is surrounded by the heights of the Swabian Alb and embedded in 5 beautiful valleys. It is a town in the district of Göppingen in Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany. The name relates to its location "on the climb" (''an der steige'') of a trade route over the Swabian Jura mountain range. It is in the southeast of the Stuttgart region about 50 km of Stuttgart and 27 km of Ulm. It is the second largest city in the district of Göppingen. Andreas Frey (born 5 June 1967 in Geislingen an der Steige, Germany) is a German economical scientist and Rector of the Nürtingen-Geislingen University of Applied Science (HfWU) for the period 2013 – 2019. Biography Andreas Frey grew up in Geislingen and took „Abitur“ at the Michelberg-Gymnasium before studying at the University of Wisconsin, USA, and at the University of Ulm, where he was awarded his doctorate (Dr. rer nat.) After a post-doc at the Tokyo Institute of Technology and further research activities in the same city he returned to Germany to take up a post as a systems engineer at Siemens AG. In 2004 he was awarded the professorship of Economic Mathematics, Statistics and Informatics at the University of Osnabrück in Germany, where he taught until 2013. Konstanze Krüger (née ''Konstanze Deubner'', born 22 January 1968) is a German zoologist and behaviour researcher. She is Professor of Horse Management at Nürtingen-Geislingen University of Applied Science, and her special field of research is the social system of horses. Scientific career Krüger studied veterinary medicine at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU). After completing her studies in 1996, she accepted a position as scientific assistant at the Institute for Animal Anatomy and Histology at the LMU in Munich. From April 1999 to February 2006, she ran the Einthal Equestrian Park in Obertraubling, together with her husband.
