Østre Gasværk Teater
Østre Gasværk Teater is a theatre in the Østerbro district of Copenhagen, Denmark, located in an abandoned gasholder house of the former Østre Gasværk (‘Eastern Gasworks’). The theatre is constructed within the masonry shell that used to house the gas holder, also known as a gasometer, proper. Built in 1883, it was one of the first independent works of Martin Nyrop, who would later become known for his design of the Copenhagen City Hall. Aage Stentoft
Aage Stentoft (1 May 1914 – 8 July 1990) was a Danish composer, film score composer and theatre director. He composed over 700 melodies during his lifetime. Biography Stentoft was born in Holbæk, where he graduated from the Stenhus Kostskole (now ). Initially, he planned to study law, but due to lack of money, he started to compose music for commercials. In 1934, he began working as an accompanist and composer for the revue troupe ''Co-Optimisterne''. A lot of his tunes quickly achieved widespread popularity, and he earned good money by composing and, later on, by producing revues. During his career, Stentoft also managed various theatres: Frederiksberg Teater (now ) in Frederiksberg and three theatres in Copenhagen, , Det Ny Scala and . In 1961, he emigrated to Spain. Betty Nansen Teatret (Betty Nansen Theatre) is a theatre situated on Frederiksberg Allé in the Frederiksberg district of Copenhagen, Denmark. It takes its name from the actress Betty Nansen, who managed it from 1917 until her death in 1943. History The first building A beer garden called Odéon opened at the site of the current theatre in 1857 as part of the thriving entertainment district which formed along Frederiksberg Allé during the second part of the 19th century. It contained a wooden structure which was used for musical entertainment and had room for 1,200 guests who were seated at small tables.
