Nándor Fa is a Hungarian yachtsman, born on 9 July 1953 in Székesfehérvár (Hungary). Biography He first followed the family tradition from an early age and practiced wrestling but an injury forced him to change sports. This sports enthusiast then discovers kayaking and then sailing at the age of 27 years old. Passionate about the he joined the Hungarian national team sailing the Finn and Laser dinghy he also started to draw boats. As he cruised near Cape Horn on the 31-foot course he had built, He learned on Chilean radio that a solo round-the-world race with stopovers was passing by: the BOC Challenge this inspired him to want to participate. He sailed around the world in 700 days with Jozsef Gal between 1985 and 1987 on the ship Szent Jupat, which they built between 1981 and 1984. Székesfehérvár (; german: Stuhlweißenburg ), known colloquially as Fehérvár ("white castle"), is a city in central Hungary, and the country's ninth-largest city. The IMOCA ("Open 60"), is a 60ft development class monohull sailing yacht administered by the International Monohull Open Class Association (IMOCA). The class pinnacle event are single or two person ocean races, such as the Route du Rhum and the Vendée Globe and this has been intimately linked to design development within the class. Class description This class is of "open" design, this means the boat is measurement controlled and therefore designers have freedom within the rules. Design restrictions include the length (between 59 and ) and maximum draft (). There are no explicit restrictions on beam, mast height or sail area although these are all indirectly controlled by flotation and self-righting capability requirements.
