Nzamba Kitonga
Philip Nzamba Kitonga (1956 – 24 October 2020) was a Kenyan lawyer and politician. Career He held many positions in his career but he was best known for being on the Committee of Experts on Constitutional Review (CoE) that drafted the new Constitution of Kenya. He was born in Kitui County, and held positions such as president of the East Africa Law Society and COMESA Court of Justice. He was one of the gubernatorial candidates in 2013 Kitui local elections but lost to Julius Malombe. He was one of the shortlisted candidates for the position of Chief Justice of Kenya to replace Willy Mutunga. Kitui County
Kitui County is a county in the former Eastern Province of Kenya. Its capital and largest town is Kitui, although Mwingi is also another major urban centre. The county has a population of 1,136,187 (2019 census). and an area of 30,430 km2. It lies between latitudes 0°10 South and 3°0 South and longitudes 37°50 East and 39°0 East. COMESA
The Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) is a regional economic community in Africa with twenty-one member states stretching from Tunisia to Eswatini. COMESA was formed in December 1994, replacing a Preferential Trade Area which had existed since 1981. Kitui Gubernatorial Elections were held in Kitui to elect a Governor and County Assembly on 4 March 2013. Julius Makau Malombe is a Kenyan politician and the first Governor of Kitui County. Willy Mutunga
Willy Munyoki Mutunga (born 16 June 1946) is a Kenyan lawyer, intellectual, reform activist, and was the Commonwealth Special Envoy to the Maldives. He is also an active member of thJustice Leadership Group He is the retired Chief Justice of Kenya and President of the Supreme Court of Kenya. Background Mutunga's father, Mzee Mutunga Mbiti, worked as a tailor in the small town of Kilonzo, Nzambani in Kitui District. He died in 1985. His mother, Mbesa Mutunga, died in 1982. Mutunga attended Ithookwe Primary School before proceeding to Kitui School for his Kenya Certificate of Education exams.
