Conny Nxumalo
Constance Glerah "Conny" Nxumalo (18 February 1967 – 22 August 2020) was a South African social worker and government official, sometimes referred to as "South Africa's Chief Social Worker". Early life Constance Glerah Nxumalo was born in Rolle, Mpumalanga province, the daughter of Anny, and the stepdaughter of Ezrom Makhubela. Her mother was a teacher; her stepfather was a school principal. She earned a degree in social work at University of Limpopo in 1989. She later earned a master's degree in management at the University of the Witwatersrand. Career Nxumalo worked as a social worker in Gazankulu after college. Her experience working in the Black-only state under apartheid helped her contribute to the new government after 1994. Mzala Nxumalo
Mzala Nxumalo (27 October 1955, in Dundee, KwaZulu-Natal – 22 February 1991, in London), was a South African intellectual and anti-apartheid activist. Life Nxumalo was schooled in Louwsburg and then Bethal College in Butterworth and matriculated in KwaDlangezwa in Empangeni. He then studied at the University of Zululand after which he went into exile where he became a full time political activists living in Swaziland, Mozambique, Tanzania, Angola and the United Kingdom. He died in London. Political activism Nxumalo was expelled from two schools for political activism, and was detained without trial at the age of 15 after organising a school boycott. He joined the South African Students Organisation at university. Henry Nxumalo (1917 – 31 December 1957), also known as Henry "Mr Drum" Nxumalo, was a pioneering South African investigative journalist under apartheid. Early life He was born in 1917 in Margate, Natal, South Africa, and attended the Fascadale Mission School. Showing early promise as a writer, he submitted various samples of his work to publications and as a result was offered a job by the ''Post'' newspaper in Johannesburg, which had published some of his earlier contributions. He enlisted in the South African Army when World War II broke out and was sent to Egypt, where the South African forces were involved in the Western Desert of North Africa. Career He became frustrated upon his return to South Africa. There were few opportunities for black journalists due to the restrictions of apartheid. Tiki Nxumalo (15 November 1948 – 8 June 2015) was a South African actor most famous for acting as Sompisi the father of shebeen queen Ruby Dikobe ( Slindile Nodangala) in the soap ''Generations''. Early life and career Nxumalo was born in Lamontville near Durban in 1950. Nxumalo was also a musician even though he had no formal training in both music and acting. He also taught music to children to keep them occupied during the peak of apartheid in 1988 at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre. Acting career He toured internationally for the hit musical Ipi Tombi in the late 1970s.
