Nuts TV
Nuts TV was a British television channel related to '' Nuts'' magazine. Nuts TV began broadcasting on Freeview channel 42 on 12 September 2007, and launched on Sky Digital on 21 January 2008. A 1-hour timeshift channel, Nuts TV +1 launched on 20 October 2008. Nuts TV was launched by the magazine's owner IPC Media and Turner Broadcasting, which are both parts of the Time Warner media empire. The service was produced by the ETV media group, with advertising sales handled by Turner. On 28 October 2008, Turner Broadcasting announced that Nuts TV was to be taken off Freeview in early 2009 and replaced with CNN International, but will carry on as an internet channel. It is also announced that Nuts TV was to be taken off Sky Digital in January 2009 along with Nuts TV +1. Nuts TV was closed down at 3 am on 14 January 2009 and an internet version of the channel was available online until the magazine's closure in April 2014, when all the company's properties were terminated. ''Nuts'' was a British lad's mag published weekly in the United Kingdom and sold every Tuesday. ''Nuts'' marketing campaign at its launch in 2004 used the slogan "When You Really Need Something Funny". The magazine closed in April 2014. Sector profile ''Nuts'' main rival magazine was ''Zoo'', another weekly, which was aimed at much the same demographic, 18–30-year-old men, and had similar content. However, since the start of the respective magazines, ''Nuts'' always outsold ''Zoo'', with the sales figures for the later half of 2013 showing a gap of nearly 25,000 copies per week. Other magazines in competition with ''Nuts'' were '' Zip'' and men's monthly publications such as ''FHM'' and '' Loaded''. A nut is a fruit consisting of a hard or tough nutshell protecting a kernel which is usually edible. In general usage and in a culinary sense, a wide variety of dry seeds are called nuts, but in a botanical context "nut" implies that the shell does not open to release the seed (indehiscent). Most seeds come from fruits that naturally free themselves from the shell, but this is not the case in nuts such as hazelnuts, chestnuts, and acorns, which have hard shell walls and originate from a compound ovary. The general and original usage of the term is less restrictive, and many nuts (in the culinary sense), such as almonds, pecans, pistachios, walnuts, and Brazil nuts, are not nuts in a botanical sense. A nut is a type of fastener with a screw thread, threaded hole. Nuts are almost always used in conjunction with a mating bolt (fastener), bolt to fasten multiple parts together. The two partners are kept together by a combination of their threads' friction (with slight deformation (engineering)#Elastic deformation, elastic deformation), a slight Tension (physics), stretching of the bolt, and compression (physics), compression of the parts to be held together. In rock climbing, a nut (or ''chock'' or ''chockstone'') is a metal wedge threaded on a wire that climbers use for protection by wedging it into a crack in the rock. Quickdraws are clipped to the nut wire by the ascending climber and the rope threads through the quickdraw. Nuts come in a variety of sizes and styles, and several different brands are made by competing manufacturers. Most nuts are made of aluminum. Larger nuts may be threaded on Dyneema cord instead of wire, but this has become unusual. The very smallest nuts are known as ''micronuts'' and may be made of brass or other metal, and typically have their wires soldered into them, instead of looped through drilled holes. Brooke Dyan Candy (born July 20, 1989) is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and tattoo artist. Raised in the suburbs of Los Angeles, daughter of Tom Candy, former CFO of ''Hustler Magazine'', Brooke rose to prominence after starring in Grimes' music video for "Genesis" (2012).
