Nurul Amin (sports Administrator)
Nurul Amin (1919–1991) was a sports administrator. A law graduate, he was president of the All India Football Federation from 1975 to 1980. He had previously been involved with the India national football team, including as manager of their gold medal winning team at the 1962 Asian Games, and many sports organisations in Assam, including as secretary of the Assam Cricket Association from 1948 to 1956, founding president of the Assam Olympic Association, and founding secretary of the Nagaon Sports Association. Assam Province
Assam Province was a province of British India, created in 1912 by the partition of the Eastern Bengal and Assam Province. Its capital was in Shillong. The Assam territory was first separated from Bengal in 1874 as the 'North-East Frontier' non-regulation province. It was incorporated into the new province of Eastern Bengal and Assam in 1905 and re-established as a province in 1912. The All India Football Federation (AIFF) is the national governing body of football in India. Nowgong Sports Club Ground (known as Nurul Amin Stadium; Assamese: নুৰুল আমিন ক্ৰীড়াক্ষেত্ৰ) is a multipurpose stadium in Nagaon, Assam. The ground is mainly used for organizing matches of football, cricket and other sports. It hosts the prestigious Independence Day Cup Football tournament every year in August and September, in which most of the teams of national repute participate. Nagaon (previously Nowgong; Assamese নগাঁও), is a town and a municipal board in Nagaon district in the Indian state of Assam. It is situated east of Guwahati.
