''Nuruhunvi Loabi'' is a 1999 Maldivian drama film directed by Ahmed Ibrahim. Produced by Hussain Rasheed under Farivaa Films, the film stars Mohamed Abdul Hakeem, Thooba Ahmed and Abdul Salaam Abdul Hakeem in pivotal roles. The film was released on 1 December 1999. Hassan Afeef is a Maldivian film actor. He is celebrated as the actor being featured in the first Maldivian film and song. He is also noted to be the actor to have worked with most directors away from home and acted in most films that were shot abroad. Career In late 1979, Hassan Afeef, a cinema-goer used to watch several Bollywood films screened at limited cinemas in Maldives and imitate their acting afterwards among friends and family. A group of Maldivians including Afeef came up with the idea of making a regional film for the Maldivian audience though several obstacles emerged including incapability to secure finance and equipment. However, they were successful in acquiring a small camera which resulted in the first Maldivian song "Noorey Vidhee Moonun Roashan Ujaala" featuring Jim alongside Rahma. Mohamed Rashad
Mohamed Rashad (1952 – 2002) also referred as Madhaha Rashad was a Maldivian singer. Early life and career Rashad was born in 1952 in Male'. His father, Qasim Hussain was famously known for locals as "Naivaadhoo Kasim" and "Reendhoo Kasim". His mother, Hawwa Idhurees was a homemaker. He had one brother as a sibling and ten others as half-siblings including notable local artists, Ali Rameez, Ibrahim Rameez and Rafiyath Rameeza. At a very young age, persuaded by his "undying love for music", Rashad was accompanied by the music group "Maafannu Fiyaathoshi Club" to lift and transport their music instruments. On one such occasion, he had perform a song as a replacement of one of the singers in his absence. Sofa Thaufeeq
Sofa Thowfeek commonly spelled as Sofa Thaufeeq (11 August 1967) is a Maldivian singer. Early life and career Sofa Thaufeeq was born on 11 August 1967. Her father, Mohamed Thaufeeq was mostly known for his strong voice in the radio program ''Keerithi Rasoolaage Siyarathu'' while her mother, Aishath Fareedha is a homemaker and singer. She is the sister of notable local playback singers Shifa Thaufeeq and Asim Thaufeeq. At the age of eight, she was selected in her school's chorus group, where she started singing and performing on school concerts and locals events. While studying in Aminiya School, she performed the song "Hindhu Emaa Kan'du Thereyn" in the year's national event drill. The performance caught the eyes of several music composers which enabled her to ge the breakthrough in film industry. Hussain Sobah
Hussain Sobah (11 November 1972) is a Maldivian film actor, music composer and playback singer. Career In 1995, Sobah featured in Mohamed Shiyaz's '' Dhushman'' alongside Mariyam Nisha, Aminath Rasheedha and Hamid Ali in pivotal roles. In the film, he plays the character Riyaz, an underprivileged young man who loses his girlfriend over social discrimination. Hamid Ali's '' Badhal'' was released in 1996, in which he starred alongside Ali, Niuma Mohamed and Waleedha Waleed as a twin; a mentally challenged young man with an immature attitude. Sobah also appeared opposite Aishat Shirani in a Television Maldives production, '' Fun Asaru'' (1996) which follows two women; one searching for her mother and one fighting cancer.
