Nurlat
Nurlat (russian: Нурла́т; tt-Cyrl, Норлат, ''Norlat'') is a town in the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia, located on the Kondurcha River, southeast of Kazan. Population: History Nurlat was formerly known as Nurlat-Oktyabrsky. It was founded in 1905 as a settlement around a railway station. Town status was granted to it in 1961. Administrative and municipal status Within the framework of administrative divisions, Nurlat serves as the administrative center of Nurlatsky District, even though it is not a part of it.Order #01-02/9 As an administrative division, is incorporated separately as the town of republic significance of Nurlat—an administrative unit with the status equal to that of the districts. Nurlatsky District (russian: Нурла́тский райо́н; tt-Cyrl, Нурлат районы, ''Nurlat rayonı'') is a territorial administrative unit and municipality of the Republic of Tatarstan within the Russian Federation. The administrative center of the district is the city of Nurlat. In 2020, the population of the district was 58,290. Almost half of the district population lives in the district center (at least 33 thousand people). The history of the district is closely connected with the Bulgar period in the Volga region and on the Kama. The city of Nurlat used to have different names: South Nurlat, Nurlat-Oktyabrsky. The Nurlatsky district was called Oktyabrsky from 1930 to 1937. The main natural resource of the region is oil, which is very important for the district's economy. Kichkalnya
Kichkalnya ( tt-Cyrl, Кычытканлы́, , ; rus, Кичкальня́}) is a Tatar village in the Nurlatsky district of the Republic of Tatarstan in Russia. Etymology The name of the village Kichkalnya comes from the word tt-Cyrl, Кычытканлы, translit=Qıçıtqanlı, which translates as 'nettle', due to the fact that a lot of nettles grew on the territory of the village. Previously, it was probably called tt-Cyrl, Кечкенә, translit=Keçkenä, which in translation means 'small'. In pre-revolutionary sources it is also mentioned under the name 'Vershina rechki Marasa' (the top of the Marasa river). History According to old residents, the village of Kichkalnya was formed at the beginning of the 18th century. This is a list of units of administrative division of the Republic of Tatarstan, a federal subject of Russia. Tatarstan is located in the center of the East European Plain, between the Volga and the Kama Rivers, stretching east towards the Ural Mountains. It was originally established as the Tatar ASSR within the Russian SFSR on May 27, 1920 from Kazansky, Chistopolsky, Mamadyshsky, Sviyazhsky, Tetyushinsky, Laishevsky, and Spassky Uyezds of the former Kazan Governorate, Yelabuzhsky Uyezd of Ufa Governorate, as well as the part of Simbirsk, Samara, and Vyatka Governorates. In 1922, Yelabuga with environs was transferred to the Tatar ASSR from Vyatka Governorate.
