Nurlan Äbdirov
Nūrlan Mäjitūly Äbdırov (; born 12 January 1961) is a Kazakh politician who's serving as Deputy Chair of the Senate of Kazakhstan since 1 September 2020. He served as a member of the Mazhilis from 2009 to 2020. Since January 2022, Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Biography Early life and education Nurlan Äbdirov was born in the village of Aqsu-Aiuly in the Shet District to a Sunni Muslim Kazakh family. He is the son of Majid Abdirov. In 1982, he graduated from the Karaganda Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan where he served as lecturer there until 1984. The Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan ( kk, Қазақстан Республикасының Орталық сайлау комиссиясы, OSK; ) is a state body in Kazakhstan, which heads the unified system of electoral commissions. History The OSK was originally formed on 22 September 1989 as the Central Election Commission for Elections and Recall of People's Deputies of the Kazakh SSR by the Resolution of the Supreme Soviet of the Kazakh SSR. Kassym-Jomart Kemeluly Tokayev ( kk, Қасым-Жомарт Кемелұлы Тоқаев, Qasym-Jomart Kemelūly Toqaev ; born 17 May 1953) is a Kazakh politician and diplomat who is currently serving as the President of Kazakhstan since 12 June 2019. Shortly before that, he served as acting president after the resignation of Nursultan Nazarbayev, who previously held the presidential post for nearly three decades. Born in Alma-Ata (now Almaty), Tokayev attended the Moscow State Institute of International Relations where after graduating in 1975, he worked as a diplomat in Singapore and China. Karaganda or Qaraghandy ( kk, Қарағанды/Qarağandy, ; russian: Караганда, ) is the capital of Karaganda Region in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Deputy Chair of the Senate of Kazakhstan () is a post in the upper house of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, Parliament which is the Senate of Kazakhstan.
