Nunobiki Plateau Wind Farm
The is a wind farm operated by the electric utility company J-Power alongside Lake Inawashiro in Kōriyama, Fukushima, Japan. It is approximately 1,080 meters above sea level. The wind farm produces 65.98 megawatts of power using a total of 33 type Enercon E-70, wind turbines, and generates enough power for approximately 35,000 houses. The facility began operating in February 2007. Each wind turbine is about 100 meters high, and each turbine blade is about 30 meters long. Mount Bandai
is a stratovolcano located in Inawashiro-town, Bandai-town, and Kitashiobara village, in Yama-Gun, Fukushima prefecture. It is an active stratovolcano located to the north of Lake Inawashiro. Mount Bandai, including the Bandai heights, belongs to the Bandai-Asahi National Park. The altitude of the triangulation station “Bandai”, installed in 1904, had been employed as the official altitude of Mount Bandai. However, after the station disappeared due to erosion, it was re-measured in October 2010 and now is 1,816.29m. The name “Mount Bandai” is used to refer to the main peak “Bandai”, along with several other peaks including Akahani at 1,430m and Kushigamine at 1,636m, created during the 1888 eruption of Mount Bandai. Lake Inawashiro
is the fourth-largest lake in Japan, located in central Fukushima Prefecture, south of Mount Bandai. It is also known as the . The lake is located within the borders of Bandai-Asahi National Park. Aoyama Plateau Wind Farm
The is the largest wind farm in Japan. It has a total capacity of 95 MW, and is located in the Aoyama Plateau, Muroo-Akame-Aoyama Quasi-National Park. The wind farm was built in stages. The first phase consisted of 20 750 kW turbines manufactured by JFE Engineering, commissioned in 2003. These turbines have a rotor diameter of 50.5 m and a tower height of 50 m. This original site covers 10.5 hectares and produced a maximum of 15 MW. The second phase was commissioned between 2016 and 2017 and comprises an additional 40 larger 2 MW turbines with a rotor diameter of 65.4 m and a tower height of 80 m, manufactured by Hitachi.
