João Nuno de Lacerda Teixeira de Melo (Joane, Vila Nova de Famalicão, 18 March 1966), commonly known as Nuno Melo, is a Portuguese lawyer, conservative politician and Member of the European Parliament (MEP)European ParliamentNuno Melo accessed 21 October 2013 representing the Democratic and Social Centre – People's Party (CDS-PP), of which he is its president. 2014 European Parliament Election In Portugal
The 2014 European Parliament election in Portugal elected the Portuguese delegation to the European Parliament from 2014 to 2019. This was the seventh European Parliament election held in Portugal. The elections were held on Sunday, 25 May 2014. The Socialist Party (PS) was the winner of the elections, scoring 31.5% of the votes. The Socialists increased their share of vote by almost 5%, and won one more seat compared with 2009. However, the PS victory was much more weaker than what polls predicted, as the margin between them and the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and CDS – People's Party (CDS) coalition was below 4%. Because of this worse than expected result, the PS would enter in a leadership contest just weeks after the election. The PSD/CDS contested the election in a coalition called "Portugal Alliance". Paulo de Sacadura Cabral Portas (born 12 September 1962, ) is a Portuguese media and political figure, who has, since the 1990s, been one of Portugal's leading conservative politicians. He was the leader of one of Portugal's right-wing parties, the CDS – People's Party (CDS-PP) from 1998 to 2005 and 2007–2016, on whose lists he was elected to the Portuguese Parliament in every legislative election between 1995 and 2015. Early legislative elections were held on 30 January 2022 in Portugal to elect members of the Assembly of the Republic to the 15th Legislature of the Third Portuguese Republic. All 230 seats to the Assembly of the Republic were up for election. On 27 October 2021, the budget proposed by the Socialist minority government was rejected by the Assembly of the Republic. The Left Bloc (BE) and the Portuguese Communist Party (PCP), both of whom had previously supported the government, joined the centre-right to right-wing opposition parties and rejected the budget. Francisco José Nina Martins Rodrigues dos Santos (born 29 September 1988) is a Portuguese conservative politician and a lawyer. 2021 Portuguese Local Elections
Local elections in Portugal were held on 26 September 2021. The election consisted of three separate elections in the 308 Portuguese municipalities: the election for the Municipal Chamber (the executive branch of the municipality), whose winner is elected mayor; another election for the Municipal Assembly (the deliberative branch of the municipality); and an election for the Parish Assembly (the deliberative branch of the lower-level parish), whose winner is elected parish president. This last one was held separately in the more than 3,000 parishes around the country. The elections happened during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in Portugal. Because of that, there was a proposal by the Social Democratic Party to postpone the elections for two months and hold the election between 22 November and 14 December 2021.
