Dinganglung Gangmei, also known as Dipu Gangmei, is an Indian bureaucrat turned politician. He was an IAS officer before taking voluntary retirement to contest an election in January 2022. 1995 Manipur Legislative Assembly Election
Elections to the Manipur Legislative Assembly were held in February 1995, to elect members of the 60 constituencies in Manipur, India. The Indian National Congress won the most seats as well as the popular vote, and its leader, Rishang Keishing was re-appointed as the Chief Minister of Manipur. After the passing of the North-Eastern Areas (Reorganisation) Act, 1971, Manipur was converted from a Union Territory to a State and the size of its Legislative Assembly was increased from 30 to 60 members. The constituencies were changed in 1976 by ''The Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly Constituencies Order, 1976''. 2017 Manipur Legislative Assembly Election
A Legislative Assembly election was held in Manipur on 4 March and 8 March 2017 to elect the 60 members of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, as the term of the previous Assembly was to end on 18 March 2017. Voter-verified paper audit trail (VVPAT) machines were used along with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in four assembly constituencies in Manipur. Background In the last election, held in 2012, the Congress won 42 seats and incumbent Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh was re-elected. The 2012 Manipur Legislative Assembly election was held in Indian state of Manipur in Feb-March 2012, to elect 60 members to the Manipur Legislative Assembly. Results The Voter turnout was 79.19%.
