Nunamara is a rural locality in the local government area (LGA) of Launceston in the Launceston LGA region of Tasmania. The locality is about north-east of the town of Launceston. The 2016 census has a population of 291 for the state suburb of Nunamara. Nunamara has a truck stop style general store, a small village hall and a war memorial. History Nunamara was gazetted as a locality in 1963. Nunamara Post Office opened in 1913 and closed in 1927. Mount Barrow ( Aboriginal: ''pialermeliggener'') is a mountain in the northern region of Tasmania, Australia. With an elevation of above sea level, the mountain is located east-north-east of Launceston. The mountain habitat is a mixture of temperate old growth rainforest, subalpine and alpine landscapes. Location and features Mount Barrow is a Jurassic dolerite-capped plateau with widespread block fields and a sharp summit ridge at the north-eastern end. It is the closest alpine mountain to Launceston - the plateau extends to and reaches a maximum altitude of above sea level, making it the second highest peak in eastern Tasmania. Tasman Highway
The Tasman Highway (or A3) is a highway in Tasmania, Australia. Like the Midland Highway, it connects the major cities of Hobart and Launceston – however it takes a different route, via the north-eastern and eastern coasts of the state. The Highway also acts as a major commuter road to Hobart residents living on the eastern side of the Derwent River. The designation "Tasman Highway" arises from its location facing the Tasman Sea – named, like the state itself, after Abel Tasman. North Esk River
The North Esk River is a major perennial river located in the northern region of Tasmania, Australia. Location and features It is one of the tributaries of the Tamar River together with the South Esk River. It starts in the Northallerton Valley below Ben Nevis in the states North East, joining with the St Patricks River before flowing through Launceston. Launceston's Old Seaport tourist feature is located on the North Esk River. The river becomes tidal downstream of Hoblers Bridge to where it meets the Tamar. It is sometimes subject to flooding, especially in East Launceston suburbs. Peter Gutwein
Peter Carl Gutwein () (born 21 December 1964) is an Australian politician who was the 46th premier of Tasmania from 2020 to 2022. He has been a Liberal Party member of the Tasmanian House of Assembly since 2002, representing the electorate of Bass. He succeeded Will Hodgman as leader of the Liberal Party and Tasmanian Premier on 20 January 2020. Early life and career Gutwein was born in England in 1964, the oldest of six children born to a British mother and a father who had arrived in Britain from "post-war central Europe" in the mid-1950s.
