''Nufolhey Maa'' () is a 1989 Maldivian drama film produced and directed by Mohamed Musthafa Hussain. The film stars Hassan Afeef, Asima, Ibrahim Rasheed in pivotal roles. The film focuses on a love triangle between a doctor, nurse and patient. Premise Ibrahim Manik (Chilhiya Moosa Manik) and his wife, Shareefa (Fathimath Didi), arrange their daughter, Athifa's (Asima) marriage with their friend's son, Dr. Athif (Ibrahim Rasheed) who works in the same hospital with Athifa. However, things go sideways when Athifa starts spending more time with a patient, Shiyam (Hassan Afeef) who is instantly attracted to her. Moosa Manik commonly known as Chilhiya Moosa Manik (30 January 1940 – 24 August 2021) was a Maldivian film actor and writer. Early life In 1977, while studying at Majeediyya School, Manik participated in the theatre play performed to celebrate the Golden jubilee of Majeediyya School. He then joined several other theatre performances as a hobby though his first priority lies in sketching and drawing, followed by writing. His most notable performance as a theatre artist includes his role as Viyazor; the administrative chief of the Portuguese kingdom who invaded and ruled over Maldives. His work as a theatre performer was appreciated by the government of Maldives and he was bestowed with the National Award of Recognition in 1983. Hassan Afeef
Hassan Afeef is a Maldivian film actor. He is celebrated as the actor being featured in the first Maldivian film and song. He is also noted to be the actor to have worked with most directors away from home and acted in most films that were shot abroad. Career In late 1979, Hassan Afeef, a cinema-goer used to watch several Bollywood films screened at limited cinemas in Maldives and imitate their acting afterwards among friends and family. A group of Maldivians including Afeef came up with the idea of making a regional film for the Maldivian audience though several obstacles emerged including incapability to secure finance and equipment. However, they were successful in acquiring a small camera which resulted in the first Maldivian song "Noorey Vidhee Moonun Roashan Ujaala" featuring Jim alongside Rahma. Shafeeqa Abdul Latheef
Shafeeqa Abdul Latheef (1 May 1961) is a Maldivian playback singer. Career Shafeeqa Abdul Latheef comes from a family with a strong musical background, her father, Abdul Latheef, being a notable musician in his prime years. Influenced by Hindustani music and inspired by renowned singers like Asha Bhosle, she began her singing journey at a young age. In 1982, an important opportunity arose when musician Imaadh Ismail and members of the Summer band were in search of a female vocalist. She participated in a brief audition which was rejected by the band members and instead requested her to render the song "Dil Ke Armaan Aansuo Me Bah Gaye" from the film ''Nikaah''. Impressed by her performance, they invited her to perform at the Gadhanoo Carnival, where her local adaptation of the song the same song titled "Dhevvi Faruvaayaa Shifaa" earned her widespread recognition. Abdul Hannan Moosa Didi (13 June 1959) is a Maldivian singer, music composer and producer. Early life and career At the age of seventeen, Didi started performing casually with his friends which helped him develop self-confidence and improve his singing capabilities. In 1977, he was offered a stage performance in a tourist resort to celebrate one of their occasions, which resulted in him getting several offers. During the time, he was more keen to perform English language songs than Hindustani classical songs. Apart from singing, he has also contributed to the industry by composing original music and tracks for films, albums and events. One of his most acclaimed music composition includes "Kaiveneege Amaazu" from the film ''Haali''. Fathimath Rauf (7 October 1959) is a Maldivian singer. Early life and career Fathimath Rauf was born and raised in the "Masodi family" where several local artists emerged as prominent singers. At the age of thirteen, as insisted by her father, Rauf performed a song on the stage which caught the attention of the audience. Music directors realized her potential and roped in to sing for their projects which enabled her to "rise to fame" during her career beginning. While working at Dhivehi Raajjeyge Adu, she joined the local band "Olympians" and became a prominent face in their stage shows. With the inauguration of National Centre for the Arts, she joined the centre and served for the government till her retirement in August 2017.
