Novosibirsk Electromechanical College (russian: Новосибирский электромеханический колледж) is an educational institution in Pervomaysky District of Novosibirsk, Russia. It was founded in 1943. History The educational institution was opened in 1943 as the Inskoy Technical School of Railway Transport. In 1954, the school was attached to the Ministry of Transport Construction. In 1955, It was renamed the Inskoy Construction Technical School of Transport Construction. In 1957, an educational building and a dormitory for 200 people were put into operation. In 1961, the institution was renamed the Novosibirsk Electromechanical Technical School of Transport Construction. And in 1991, It was named the Novosibirsk Electromechanical College. Abakan–Taishet Railway
The Abakan-Taishet Railway is a railway built between 1959 and 1965, connecting Abakan with Tayshet on the Trans-Siberian Railway. It lies in Krasnoyarsk Krai along with parts of the Republic of Khakassia and Irkutsk Oblast. The line is a continuation of the Novokuznetsk - Abakan Railway which was built between 1949 and 1950. Construction of the Abakan-Taishet Railway was announced as a Komsomol shock construction project, and young workers came from all parts of the Soviet Union to build the line. Distances to points along the line are measured in kilometers beginning at Novokuznetsk. Baikal–Amur Mainline
The Baikal–Amur Mainline (russian: Байкало-Амурская магистраль, , , ) is a broad-gauge railway line in Russia. Traversing Eastern Siberia and the Russian Far East, the -long BAM runs about 610 to 770 km (380 to 480 miles) north of and parallel to the Trans-Siberian Railway. The Soviet Union built the BAM as a strategic alternative route to the Trans–Siberian Railway, seen as vulnerable especially along the sections close to the border with China. The BAM's costs were estimated at $14 billion, and it was built with special, durable tracks since much of it ran over permafrost. Due to the severe terrain, weather, length and cost, Soviet general secretary Leonid Brezhnev described BAM in 1974 as "the construction project of the century".
