Novosedly (Břeclav District)
Novosedly (german: Neusiedl) is a municipality and village in Břeclav District in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 1,300 inhabitants. Geography Novosedly is located about northwest of Břeclav and south of Brno. It lies in the Dyje–Svratka Valley. The highest point is the Syslík hill at above sea level. The municipality is situated on the right bank of the Thaya River. History The first written mention of Novosedly is from 1276, when it was acquired by the convent in Dolní Kounice. The village was probably founded as a typical colonization settlement in the first half of the 13th century. In the mid-14th century, the village was annexed to the Drnholec estate and shared its owners and fates. This state lasted until the establishment of an independent municipality in 1848.
