Novoprokopivka
Novoprokopivka () is a village in southern Ukraine, administratively located in Tokmak urban hromada, Polohy Raion, Zaporizhzhia Oblast. It had a population of 747 as of 2001. Geography It is located near the watershed of tributaries of the Konka river, which flows roughly northwestward into the Dnieper, and the Molochna river, which flows roughly southwards into the Sea of Azov. It is away from Tokmak, and south of Orikhiv. It is a few kilometres south of Robotyne. History Novoprokopivka was founded in the mid-19th century under the Russian Empire as Vershyna () by settlers from Mala Tokmachka. It gained its current name in 1882. The village has become a frontline battlefield of the Russo-Ukrainian War during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. 2023 Ukrainian Counteroffensive
In early June 2023, during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Ukraine launched a counteroffensive against Russian forces occupying its territory with a long-term goal of breaching the frontlines. Efforts were made in many directions, primarily in Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia oblasts, among others. Planning for a major Ukrainian counteroffensive had begun as early as February 2023, with the original intention being to launch it in the spring. However, various factors, including weather and late weapon deliveries to Ukraine, delayed it to summer, as it had not been deemed safe to progress. Robotyne ( uk, Роботине, ) is a village in Polohy Raion, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, Ukraine. Administratively, it is part of Tokmak urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. The village is approximately southeast of Orikhiv, and north of Tokmak. It had a population of 480 in 2001. History 19th-20th centuries According to Yu. Knyazkov, the area was initially settled as a farm in 1818 under the Russian Empire by migrants from the city of Orikhiv. The name is itself derived from the surname of the first settlers, Robota. In 1869, the village was officially founded. The area was administratively assigned to the Solodko-Balkiv Volost, Berdyansky Uyezd, Taurida Governorate. Orikhiv ( uk, Орі́хів, ) is a city in Polohy Raion, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, Ukraine. As of January 2022 its population was approximately History Orikhiv was founded in about 1783 near the Konka River; it was incorporated in 1801. It is situated about southeast of Aleksandrovsk (today Zaporizhzhia), and almost the same distance north of the Molochna Kolonia (''Milk Colony''). In 1818 Orikhiv appeared to be a place where military personnel of the Czar were stationed; an officer from Orikhiv came out to finalize arrangements for the Czar's visit to Lindenau, Germany, Lindenau in May of that year.
