Novodvinsk (russian: Новодви́нск) is a types of inhabited localities in Russia, town in the north of Arkhangelsk Oblast, Russia, located on the left bank of the Northern Dvina, south of Arkhangelsk. Population: History It was founded in 1935 as the settlement of Voroshilovsky () serving a pulp and paper mill. It was granted urban-type settlement status in 1941, renamed Pervomaysky in 1958, and was granted town status in 1977, at which time it also got its present name. Simultaneously, Novodvinsk was removed from Primorsky District of Arkhangelsk Oblast and became the town of oblast significance. Arkhangelsk Oblast (russian: Арха́нгельская о́бласть, ''Arkhangelskaya oblast'') is a federal subjects of Russia, federal subject of Russia (an oblast). It includes the Arctic Ocean, Arctic archipelagos of Franz Josef Land and Novaya Zemlya, as well as the Solovetsky Islands in the White Sea. Within the framework of administrative divisions, Arkhangelsk Oblast is divided into six cities and towns of oblast significance, twenty-one districts, and two island territories (Franz Joseph Land and Victoria Island). Leonid Aleksandrovich Yekimov (russian: Леонид Александрович Екимов; born 13 September 1987) is a Russian sport shooter. At the 2006 ISSF World Shooting Championships, he won the junior competition in 25 metre pistol and finished second in 25 metre standard pistol. The following year, although still a junior, he opted to participate in the open class of the European Championships in 10 metre air pistol and helped the Russian team to a gold medal and a new world record, also breaking the junior world record of Kanstantsin Lukashyk in the qualification round. The classification system of inhabited localities in Russia and some other post-Soviet states has certain peculiarities compared with those in other countries. Classes During the Soviet time, each of the republics of the Soviet Union, including the Russian SFSR, had its own legislative documents dealing with classification of inhabited localities.
