Sarah Lipstate (born Birmingham, Alabama, March 16, 1984) is an American guitarist and composer who records under the name Noveller. Her style typically involves creating layered soundscapes on the guitar, making extensive use of effects pedals and e-bows. Her music has been described as "icy drones and beautifully spare sounds" by the Allmusic reviewer. In 2019, she collaborated with Iggy Pop on his album ''Free''. Biography Lipstate was born in 1984 in Birmingham. At age 2, she moved with her family to Lafayette, Louisiana. As a child, she played piano for nearly a decade and played trombone in her high school marching band. She began playing the guitar at 17 after buying the cheapest electric guitar she could afford. ''Free'' is the nineteenth studio album by American rock singer Iggy Pop, released by Caroline International and Loma Vista Recordings on September 6, 2019. It features contributions from Noveller and Leron Thomas, and the title track was released along with the album announcement. A music video for the album's second single, "James Bond", was released on August 14, 2019. Background and recording Iggy Pop described the album as "reflect ng the exhaustion of post-tour life" as well as "uniquely somber and contemplative". He went on to say that after touring in support of ''Post Pop Depression'', he felt "drained" and wanted to be "free", so the album "just kind of happened to me, and I let it happen". Fire Records is a British independent record label, run by James Nicholls, with offices in London, England and New York, USA. The label was founded by music journalist Johnny Waller and Clive Solomon in 1985 and released early records from Pulp, Teenage Fanclub (on subsidiary label Paperhouse), Spacemen 3 (formerly on Glass Records), Blue Aeroplanes, Lives of Angels and others. Parts & Labor
Parts & Labor was an American rock band formed in 2002 by B. J. Warshaw and Dan Friel in Brooklyn, New York. Drummer Joe Wong joined the band in 2007. Parts & Labor released five albums, two EPs, one split album (with Tyondai Braxton), and numerous 7"s and compilation tracks. Their music is influenced by DIY punk, experimental/psychedelic rock, and lo-fi electronic music. Drummer Christopher Weingarten left the band in 2008 but they quickly recruited new drummer Joe Wong and added guitarist Sarah Lipstate, turning them into a four-piece band. This lineup recorded ''Receivers'', the band's fourth album, which was released on October 21, 2008 in North America and November 3, 2008 in the UK through Jagjaguwar. Also released in 2008 was ''Escapers Two'', a record which featured 51 songs in around 29 minutes. On July 10, 2009, Lipstate announced via her website she had left the band.
