Stafford Lake County Park
Stafford Lake County Park is a park in the Marin County, California parks system, managed by the Marin County Department of Parks and Open Space. The park is located in Novato, north of San Francisco California and is in a classic northern California valley among grazing farmland. The lake is man-made and there is no boating or swimming allowed. The land in the park includes lakefront fields, creek, meadows and some redwood groves, and is named for the Stafford Farm, on which the lake sits. The park hosts many events such as concerts, known as Rock'n Blues by the Lake, with bands such as Journey, Yonder Mountain String Band and Jefferson Starship. For a number of years the park hosted the Marin Renaissance fair. Bike park In mid-2017, a bike park was added to Stafford Lake, featuring courses of all skill levels and great views of the lake. Tee Beam
A T-beam (or tee beam), used in construction, is a load-bearing structure of reinforced concrete, wood or metal, with a -shaped cross section. The top of the -shaped cross section serves as a flange or compression member in resisting compressive stresses. The web (vertical section) of the beam below the compression flange serves to resist shear stress. When used for highway bridges the beam incorporates reinforcing bars in the bottom of the beam to resist the tensile stresses which occur during bending. The T-beam has a big disadvantage compared to an I-beam (with shape) because it has no bottom flange with which to deal with tensile forces. Novato (Spanish for "Novatus") is a city in Marin County, California, in the North Bay region of the Bay Area. At the 2020 census, Novato had a population of 53,225. History What is now Novato was originally the site of several Coast Miwok villages: Chokecherry, near downtown Novato; Puyuku, near Ignacio; and Olómpali, at the present-day Olompali State Historic Park. Rush Creek (Marin County, California)
Rush Creek is a stream in eastern Marin County, California, United States. It originates on the north edge of Novato, California and flows northeasterly through wetlands into Black John Slough and then the Petaluma River. The name is associated with Peter Rush who bought land near Novato in 1862. Ecology The creek flows through coastal saltwater marsh and coastal brackish-water marsh habitats. The wetlands provide suitable habitat for San Pablo song sparrow, California black rail, saltmarsh common yellowthroat, California brackishwater snail, and California clapper rail. Conservation In 1999, the Rush Creek/Cemetery Marsh Enhancement Project was completed by the Marin Audubon Society. This project involved the excavation of channels to improve circulation and replacement of tide gates in the Rush Creek marsh and Cemetery Marsh. The Chinook salmon (''Oncorhynchus tshawytscha'') is the largest and most valuable species of Pacific salmon in North America, as well as the largest in the genus ''Oncorhynchus''. Steelhead, or occasionally steelhead trout, is the common name of the anadromous form of the coastal rainbow trout or redband trout (O. m. gairdneri). Steelhead are native to cold-water tributaries of the Pacific basin in Northeast Asia and North America. Like other sea-run (anadromous) trout and salmon, steelhead spawn in freshwater, smolts migrate to the ocean to forage for several years and adults return to their natal streams to spawn. Bel Marin Keys is an unincorporated community in Marin County, California. It lies at an elevation of 10 feet (3 m). Geography Bel Marin Keys is a waterfront community located east of the city of Novato. The community has approximately 700 homes. California State Route 37
State Route 37 (SR 37) is a state highway in the U.S. state of California that runs along the northern shore of San Pablo Bay. It serves as a vital connection in the North Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area, running from U.S. Route 101 in Novato, through northeastern Marin County, and the southern tips of both Sonoma and Solano Counties to Interstate 80 in Vallejo. Sonoma Raceway and Six Flags Discovery Kingdom are accessible from Highway 37. The highway has been proposed to be built to freeway standards since the early 1950s.
