Novato
Novato (Spanish for "Novatus") is a city in Marin County, California, in the North Bay region of the Bay Area. At the 2020 census, Novato had a population of 53,225. History What is now Novato was originally the site of several Coast Miwok villages: Chokecherry, near downtown Novato; Puyuku, near Ignacio; and Olómpali, at the present-day Olompali State Historic Park. Mexican era In 1839, the Mexican government granted the Rancho Novato to Fernando Feliz. The rancho was named after a local Miwok leader who had probably been given the name of Saint Novatus at his baptism. The Marin Museum of Contemporary Art (MarinMOCA) was founded in 2007 and is located in Novato, California, United States. Ignacio, California
Ignacio (formerly Pacheco) is an unincorporated community in Marin County, California. It is located southeast of downtown Novato, at an elevation of 30 feet (9 m). Ignacio is a neighborhood located west of Bel Marin Keys, CA. According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), it is located at , placing it north of the interchange of U.S. Route 101 and Ignacio Boulevard, in Novato. Coast Miwok
Coast Miwok are an indigenous people that was the second-largest group of Miwok people. Coast Miwok inhabited the general area of modern Marin County and southern Sonoma County in Northern California, from the Golden Gate north to Duncans Point and eastward to Sonoma Creek. Coast Miwok included the Bodega Bay Miwok, or Olamentko (Olamentke), from authenticated Miwok villages around Bodega Bay, the Marin Miwok, or Hookooeko (Huukuiko), and Southern Sonoma Miwok, or Lekahtewutko (Lekatuit). The North Bay is a subregion of the San Francisco Bay Area, in California, United States. The largest city is Santa Rosa, which is the fifth-largest city in the Bay Area.
