Dr. Sigué Nouhoun or Nouhoun Sigué (June 1, 1911 – October 1, 2004) was a veterinarian and politician from Burkina Faso who served in the French Senate from 1948 to 1952. French Senate
The Senate (french: Sénat, ) is the upper house of the French Parliament, with the lower house being the National Assembly, the two houses constituting the legislature of France. The French Senate is made up of 348 senators (''sénateurs'' and ''sénatrices'') elected by part of the country's local councillors (in indirect elections), as well as by representatives of French citizens living abroad. Senators have six-year terms, with half of the seats up for election every three years. The Senate enjoys less prominence than the first, or lower house, the National Assembly, which is elected on direct universal ballot and upon the majority of which the Government has to rely: in case of disagreement, the Assembly can in many cases have the last word, although the Senate keeps a role in some key procedures, such as constitutional amendments and most importantly legislation about itself. Ouahigouya
Ouahigouya is a town in northern Burkina Faso. It is the capital of the Yatenga Province and one of its subdivisions the Ouahigouya Department. It is also the biggest town in the Nord Region. It is the fourth largest city in the country with a population of 124,587 (2019) and is situated north-west of Ouagadougou. The city itself has a stadium, a private non-profit Paediatric Hospital with 36 beds for giving birth and 24 beds for children suffering of severe malnutrition, a post office with internet access and at least one Ecobank bank branch. History The city was founded in 1757 as the capital of Yatenga one of a number of Mossi Kingdoms. The city still bears testimony to its role as capital of the Yatenga Kingdom in its name, the meaning of which is ''come and prostrate yourselves''.
