Nottingham Caesars
The Nottingham Caesars are an American football team based in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England, who operate in the BAFA National Leagues NFC South 1, the second level of British American football. They are based at the Harvey Hadden Stadium in the Bilborough area of the city. The team is affectionately known by its players and fans as "The Big C" and was formed in 1984 initially as the youth team of the Nottingham Hoods before later splitting off to form its own adult side. The club played in the BAFA Premier North in both the 2013 and 2014 seasons before being placed in the second tier of British American Football following a reshuffle of the League structure. They hold four Divisional titles to their name having won their division in 1995, 1997, 2003 and 2008. The club reached two Division 1 bowl games in both 1997 and 2003, both ending in defeat. BAFA National Leagues
The BAFANL (BAFA National Leagues) are the primary American football domestic League competition in Great Britain. The League is run by the British American Football Association to coordinate contact football within England, Scotland and Wales. Originally formed in the 1980s, the League was reformed in 2010 following the collapse of the British American Football League, which had run in a number of different guises since the early 1980s. Previous names of the League were the UKAFL (UK American Football League), the Budweiser League and the BNGL (British National Gridiron League). From 1998 until 2005 the League was known as the BSL (British Senior League). Tensions grew between the directors of BAFL and those of the British American Football Association, the governing body throughout 2009 and at the beginning of 2010, BAFL formally, but unconstitutionally, withdrew from BAFA. Peterborough Saxons
The Peterborough Saxons were a British American Football team based in Thorney, Cambridgeshire. They played in the BAFA Nation League's Midlands Conference Division One for the 2016 season but dropped out the League after one regular season game. The senior team was first formed in 2001 as the East Midlands Saxons and entered senior competition the following year. Particular seasons of note are 2008, 2012, and 2015, where the Saxons have won a significant number of games, achieved the play-offs or final, and achieved promotion. Nottingham is home to several high-profile sports clubs. Highland Wildcats
The Highland Wildcats is the brand of the Inverness Blitz Academy of American Football which is a registered charity with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator. The Inverness Blitz started in 1999 and since then has developed many teams and programmes in the area. In 2006 the Blitz gained charity status with the goals to increase public participation in sport and improve citizenship and community spirit through the use of American football. It was also at this time that the Blitz Development Project was established which saw the organisation employ a full-time development officer and run many programmes in primary schools, secondary schools and in volunteer & club development. The London Blitz (formerly known as the London Sillynannies) are an American football team based in Finsbury Park, North London, England, who compete BAFA National Leagues Premier Division South, the highest level of British American football. They were formed in 1995 and operate from Finsbury Park Athletics Stadium. The Edinburgh Wolves are an American football team based in Edinburgh, Scotland, that competes in the BAFA National Leagues Premier Division North, the highest level of British American Football. The team operate from the Peffermill Playing Fields. History Edinburgh has had an American Football team since the Edinburgh Eagles were formed in 1985.
