Not Of This Earth (The Damned Album)
''Not of This Earth'' is the eighth studio album by The Damned. It is often called ''I'm Alright Jack & The Beanstalk''. History The album has a convoluted history. Following the Final Damnation concerts in 1988, the original line-up of the band (singer Dave Vanian, guitarist Brian James, bass guitarist Captain Sensible and drummer Rat Scabies) had briefly collaborated to record the track "Prokofiev", which had a low-key USA-only release on the independent Skinnies Cut label. Over the following months, Scabies continued to collaborate with James, Kris Dollimore, guitarist with The Godfathers, on demos. James soon moved on. Scabies and Dollimore then recruited bass player Moose (formerly with New Model Army), the trio travelling to Scotland to work on further demos. Initial attempts to persuade Vanian to join the project were unsuccessful, as the singer was dismissive of the demo songs. Scabies abandoned the material, and began working with Alan Lee Shaw (who had previously ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

The Damned (band)
The Damned are an English punk rock band formed in London in 1976 by lead vocalist Dave Vanian, guitarist Brian James, bassist (and later guitarist) Captain Sensible, and drummer Rat Scabies. They were the first punk band from the United Kingdom to release a single, "New Rose" (1976), release a studio album, ''Damned Damned Damned'' (1977), and tour the United States. They have nine singles that charted on the UK Singles Chart Top 40. The band briefly broke up after '' Music for Pleasure'' (1977), the follow-up to their debut studio album, was critically dismissed. They quickly reformed without Brian James, and released ''Machine Gun Etiquette'' (1979). In the 1980s they released four studio albums, '' The Black Album'' (1980), ''Strawberries'' (1982), ''Phantasmagoria'' (1985), and ''Anything'' (1986), which saw the band moving towards a gothic rock style. The latter two albums did not feature Captain Sensible, who had left the band in 1984. In 1988, James and Sensible rejoin ... Their music draws on influences across the musical spectrum, from punk rock, punk and folk music, folk to soul music, soul, metal music, metal and classical music, classical. Sullivan's lyrics, which range from directly political through to spiritual and personal, have always been considered as a key part of the band's appeal. Whilst having their roots in punk rock, the band have always been difficult to categorise. In 1999, when asked about this, Sullivan said, "We've been labelled as punks, post-punks, Gothic rock, Goth, metal, folk – the lot, but we've always been beyond those style confines". Molten Lager
''Molten Lager'' is a live album by English rock band the Damned, released in October 1999. It was recorded in Mulhouse, France on 23 June 1994. The line-up features the '' Not of This Earth'' personnel and showcases much of that album and other rare tracks by the Damned. While somewhat obscure, this CD is regarded by many fans and music critics as the best of the Damned's numerous live albums , although it largely ignores the band's goth period in favour of the more punk and rock oriented material. It was recorded straight from the mixing desk to DAT. Reception Jack Rabid, writing for AllMusic, called the album "extremely great-sounding," adding, "Being boogie-rock, it doesn't really sound like the Damned, but it sounds like a fairly kick-ass R&B punk band being fronted by Dave Vanian." However, he felt that the "few old classics this lineup attempts" sound "horrible." Track listing ;Note *Some editions of the album omit "I Walk the Line" and "That Loving ... Testify (The Damned EP)
''Testify'' is a remix EP by The Damned, released by Cleopatra Records in 1997. Composition The EP consists of remixes of material from their 1996 album '' Not of This Earth''. Among those contributing were the UK Subs (Track 1), Birmingham 6 (Track 2), Claus Larsen (Track 3), Damien Deville of Nosferatu (Track 4), Matt Green (Track 5) and Romell Regulacion (Track 6). A bonus live version of MC5's "Looking at You" recorded at Woolwich Coronet on 11 July 1985, the same gig as '' Fiendish Shadows'' live album (but not included on that release) was included as a "bonus track" – something of a misnomer as the EP's never been issued without it. Release The EP was initially released in the United States only, but is relatively easy to find imported in the UK, among others. It was later included on Cleopatra's Damned Box Set. Track listing All tracks composed by Rat Scabies and Alan Lee Shaw; except where indicated # "Testify" ( UK Subs Mix) – 2:19 # "I Need a Life – Re ... History Following the 1989 breakup of The Damned, Vanian, guitarist Roman Jugg and bassist Bryn Merrick formed the Phantom Chords with Brendan Mooney (guitar) and Clyde Dempsey (drums). In 1990, the debut single by the band (" Johnny Remember Me", a cover of a Geoff Goddard song) was released on Polydor in Australia and M&G Records in the UK. However, although an 11-track album (including "Johnny Remember Me") was written, and Polydor planned to release it, this did not happen, and only two one-sided acetates of it exist (although it has since become available through bootlegs). A promotional cassette was available for purchase at some of the venues when the band toured the ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Lenticular Printing
Lenticular printing is a technology in which lenticular lenses (a technology also used for 3D displays) are used to produce printed images with an illusion of depth, or the ability to change or move as they are viewed from different angles. Examples include flip and animation effects such as winking eyes, and modern advertising graphics whose messages change depending on the viewing angle. Colloquial terms for lenticular prints include "flickers", "winkies", "wiggle pictures" and "tilt cards". The trademarks ''Vari-Vue'' and ''Magic Motion'' are often used for lenticular pictures, without regard to the actual manufacturer. Process Lenticular printing is a multi-step process which consists of creating a lenticular image from at least two images, and placing it behind a lenticular lens. It can be used to create frames of animation, for a motion effect; offsetting the various layers at different increments, for a 3D effect; or simply to show sets of alternative images that appe ... Sex Pistols
The Sex Pistols were an English punk rock band formed in London in 1975. Although their initial career lasted just two and a half years, they were one of the most groundbreaking acts in the history of popular music. They were responsible for initiating the Punk subculture, punk movement in the United Kingdom and inspiring many later punk and alternative rock musicians. Their fashion and hairstyles were a significant influence on punk fashion, punk image, and they are often associated with anarchism within music. The Sex Pistols originally comprised vocalist Johnny Rotten (John Lydon), guitarist Steve Jones (musician), Steve Jones, drummer Paul Cook, and bassist Glen Matlock; Matlock was replaced by Sid Vicious in early 1977. Under the management of Malcolm McLaren, the band attracted some controversies that both captivated and appalled Britain.
