Not Angels But Angels
''Not Angels But Angels'' is a 1994 documentary film about teenage boys and young men in Prague working as prostitutes, primarily there and also in other European cities in the region. The creator of the documentary, Wiktor Grodecki interviews the hustlers, who give ages ranging from 14 to 20 years, to find out more about their lives and how they came to make a living by selling sex. The film explores their hopes and fears, what they hope to be doing in the future, and coping with the possibility of being infected with HIV. The film also presents comments by a man who arranges liaisons between tourists and young male hustlers in the Prague central train station. The conversations are in a mix of Czech with English subtitles, and English. Wiktor Grodecki
Wiktor Grodecki (born 25 February 1960 in Warsaw) is a Polish film director, screenwriter and producer known for ''Mandragora'' (five main prizes at Geneva "Stars Of Tomorrow" film festival in Switzerland in 1997 and Audience Choice Award at Palm Springs Intl Film Fest, USA 1998) as well as ''Insatiability'' - an adaptation of the eponymous novel by Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz - which was awarded Best Indie Director prize by SAG in USA in 2004. Biography Grodecki studied with the film direction faculty in the National Film School in Łódź, National Film School in Łódź under the supervision of Wojciech Jerzy Has. The first step of his international career was directing the 1985 movie ''Him'', which was produced by the University of Minnesota Film Society in collaboration with producer Albert Milgrom. BFI Flare: London LGBTIQ+ Film Festival, formerly known as the London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival (LLGFF), is the biggest LGBTIQ+ film festival in Europe. It takes place every spring in London, England. It began in 1986, as a season of gay and lesbian films at the National Film Theatre for two years, under the title "Gay's Own Pictures", curated by Peter Packer of the Tyneside Cinema. It was renamed the 'London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival' in 1988. Having been a two-week festival for many years, the festival was shortened to a week in 2011, then increased to 10 days in 2012.
