Nostra Signora Di Coromoto
Nostra Signora di Coromoto is a 20th-century Parish (Catholic Church), parochial church and titular church in southwest Rome, dedicated to Our Lady of Coromoto. History The church was built in 1976–78; contributions from Italian Venezuelans led it to be named for that country's patron, Our Lady of Coromoto. It is visited by Venezuelans but is not their official national churches in Rome, national church. It is square, with a cross-beam roof of laminated wood. The Presbytery (architecture), presbytery is illuminated from above by natural light. Pope John Paul II visited in 1981. On 25 May 1985, it was made a titular church to be held by a cardinal-deacon. Gianicolense is the 12th ''quartiere'' of Rome (Italy), identified by the initials Q. XII. It belongs to the Municipio XI and Municipio XII. It takes its name from the Janiculum hill, which lies in the nearby ''rione'' Trastevere and whose western extremities correspond to the area of Monteverde. History The quarter is full of historical vestiges, being close to the ancient city: here stood the ''Horti Caesaris'', a number of pagan places of worship, and some Christian and Jewish catacombs, like the catacombs of Pontian and San Pancrazio, underneath the same name basilica.
