Gustav Noske
Gustav Noske (9 July 1868 – 30 November 1946) was a German politician of the Social Democratic Party (SPD). He served as the first Minister of Defence (''Reichswehrminister'') of the Weimar Republic between 1919 and 1920. Noske has been a controversial figure because although he was a member of the socialist movement, he used army and paramilitary forces to bloodily suppress the socialist/communist uprisings of 1919. Early life Noske was born on 9 July 1868 in Brandenburg an der Havel, Prussia. He was the son of the weaver Karl Noske (born 1838) and the manual labourer Emma Noske (née Herwig, born 1843). From 1874 to 1882 he went to primary and secondary school (''Volks-'' and ''Bürgerschule''). In 1882 to 1886 he was apprenticed as a basket maker at the ''Reichsteinische Kinderwagenfabrik'' and travelled to Halle, Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Liegnitz as a journeyman. Mark Noske (born 25 July 1975) is a former Australian racing car driver. He has scored round wins in various Australian championships including the Australian Drivers' Championship, the Australian Formula Ford Championship and the Australian Nations Cup Championship. Formula Racing The son of former 1980's Sprintcar and Group A racer Tony Noske, Mark started in Formula Ford in Australia in 1992 after three seasons of Karting finishing fourth in 1994 and third in 1995 1995 Australian Formula Ford Pointscore championships. In 1997 and 1998, he entered the Formula Holden class finishing sixth and third respectively. He made a brief return in 2002 for two races only. He competed in the US Formula Ford 2000 series. Barbara Miriam Noske is a Dutch cultural anthropologist and philosopher. She introduced the concept ''animal–industrial complex'' in her 1989 book ''Humans and Other Animals''. Academic career Noske holds a MA in socio-cultural anthropology and a PhD in philosophy from the University of Amsterdam. In the 1990s, Noske taught environmental ethics, ecology and ecofeminism at York University in Toronto while a research fellow in the Faculty of Environmental Studies. Gustav Adolf Nosske (29 December 1902 – 9 August 1986) was a German lawyer and SS-''Obersturmbannführer''. In 1941–42, he commanded ''Einsatzkommando 12'' within Einsatzgruppe D, under the command of Otto Ohlendorf. Tried in the Einsatzgruppen Trial in 1948, Nosske was sentenced to life imprisonment. He was released early in December 1951. Career Gustav Aldolf Nosske was born on 29 December in Halle. After studying law, he became a lawyer in Halle and Aachen. Nosske joined the Nazi Party and the SS in 1933. He became the head of the Gestapo in Aachen in 1935 and then in Frankfurt from September 1936 to June 1941. As a SS-''Obersturmbannführer'' in rank, he was appointed chief of ''Einsatzkommando 12'' before the invasion of the Soviet Union on 22 June 1941. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross (german: Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes) and its variants were the highest awards in the military and paramilitary forces of Nazi Germany during World War II. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded for a wide range of reasons and across all ranks, from a senior commander for skilled leadership of his troops in battle to a low-ranking soldier for a single act of extreme gallantry. A total of 7,321 awards were made between its first presentation on 30 September 1939 and its last bestowal on 17 June 1945. This number is based on the acceptance by the Association of Knight's Cross Recipients (AKCR). Presentations were made to members of the three military branches of the Wehrmacht—the Heer (Army), Kriegsmarine (Navy) and Luftwaffe (Airforce)—as well as the Waffen-SS, the Reich Labour Service and the Volkssturm (German national militia).
