Norwegian Union Of Electricians And Power Station Workers
The Norwegian Union of Electricians and Power Station Officials ( no, Norsk Elektriker og Kraftstasjonsforbund, NEKF) was a trade union representing workers in jobs relating to electricity, in Norway. The union was founded on 18 July 1918 as the Norwegian Electricians' Union, and became the NEKF in 1922. It affiliated to the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions, and by 1924, it had 1,466 members. This grew to 12,152 members in 1963. On 1 January 1999, it merged with the Norwegian Telecommunication and Data Workers' Union, to form the Electrician and IT Workers' Union The Electrician and IT Workers' Union ( no, EL og IT Forbundet, EL og IT) is a trade union in Norway. The Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions ( no, Landsorganisasjonen i Norge, LO) is a national trade union center, decidedly the largest and probably the most influential umbrella organization of labour unions in Norway. The 21 national unions affiliated to the LO have almost 1,000,000 members of a Norwegian population of 5 million. The majority of affiliated unions organizes traditional blue collar workers, but the largest affiliate is the Norwegian Union of Municipal and General Employees which makes up more than a third of all members. LO is affiliated to the ITUC and the ETUC. It was named the Workers' National Trade Union ( no, Arbeidernes Faglige Landsorganisasjon, AFL) from 1899 to 1957. The Norwegian Telecommunication and Data Workers' Union ( no, Tele- og Dataforbundet, TD) was a trade union representing telecommunication and information technology workers in Norway. The union was founded on 18 November 1988, when the Norwegian Union of Telecommunication Workers merged with the Norwegian Telecommunication Organisation. It affiliated to the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions, and by 1996, it had 14,608 members.
