Norwegian Society Of Composers And Lyricists
NOPA, the Norwegian Society of Composers and Lyricists is a society for creators of music and song lyrics in Norway. The object of the society is to promote Norwegian creative music, musical works and lyrics and other texts in musical works, strengthen professional cooperation, create meeting places and work for the members’ artistic and financial interests It was created in 1937 as ''Norske populærautorer''. The name has later been changed to ''NOPA – Norsk forening for komponister og tekstforfattere''. It is a daughter organization of TONO, and a sister of the Norwegian Society of Composers. TONO
TONO is a Norwegian corporation that administers copyrights for music in Norway. It is owned and governed by its members; composers, music publishers and text-writers. Through the managing agreement the originators give TONO an exclusive right to administer the members' performing rights in Norway. By 2006 the number of members reached about 14,000, through agreements of reciprocation with about 60 other corporations, organised under the umbrella-organisation CISAC. TONO ''de facto'' manages the whole world-repertoire. TONO was originally created in 1928 under the name of ''Norsk Komponistforenings Internasjonale Musikkbyrå''. Norwegian Society Of Composers
The Norwegian Society of Composers ( no, Norsk Komponistforening) was founded in 1917. The Society's main objectives are to promote its members' music and secure their rights. As of today the Society counts 185 members who meet regularly for discussions and seminars. The Society works towards creating opportunities for the dissemination of contemporary music and for increasing public awareness of this art form. Contemporary music is promoted via several channels, including the society's record label Aurora, and through collaboration with concert producers and festivals. European Composer And Songwriter Alliance
The European Composer and Songwriter Alliance (ECSA) is an international, non-profit organization based in Brussels, and composed by more than 55 associations of composers and songwriters in more than 25 different European countries. It represents around 30,000 music creators and was founded in 2007. ECSA is co-financed by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union. ECSA is a European network whose main objective is to defend and promote the rights of music authors on a national, European, and international level.
