Norwegian Confederation Of Trade Unions
The Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions ( no, Landsorganisasjonen i Norge, LO) is a national trade union center, decidedly the largest and probably the most influential umbrella organization of labour unions in Norway. The 21 national unions affiliated to the LO have almost 1,000,000 members of a Norwegian population of 5 million. The majority of affiliated unions organizes traditional blue collar workers, but the largest affiliate is the Norwegian Union of Municipal and General Employees which makes up more than a third of all members. LO is affiliated to the ITUC and the ETUC. It was named the Workers' National Trade Union ( no, Arbeidernes Faglige Landsorganisasjon, AFL) from 1899 to 1957. Jens Gram
Jens Gram (15 November 1840 – 22 January 1912) was a Norwegian industrialist. Personal life He was born in Ask as a son of Johan Georg Boll Gram and Fredrikke Severine Mathea Stabell. He was a brother of Andrea Gram, grandson of Jens Jensen Gram and a first cousin of Gregers Winther Wulfsberg Gram. Through his sister Nicoline he was a brother-in-law of Eilif Peterssen. In July 1867 in Vadernes he married Julie Munch (1843–1928), daughter of P. A. Munch. They had two notable children, Johan Fredrik Gram and Mads Gram. Through Mads he was the father-in-law of art historian Irma Ingertha Gram. Career He enrolled as a student in 1859, and also studied forestry in Germany a couple of years. When returning home he worked as manager of the family-owned forests. In 1871 he moved to Drammen, where he was the vice consul for Denmark from 1870 to 1906. Einar Jansen
Einar Jansen (27 March 1893 – 13 December 1960) was a Norwegian historian, genealogist and archivist. He was born in Røyken as the son of priest Jens Jonas Jansen (1844–1912) and Jenny Therese Schroeter (1863–1942). He was a nephew of Jens Fredrik Schroeter. The family soon moved to Sandvika, and after finishing his secondary education in 1911, he enrolled in philology at the University of Kristiania, graduating with the cand.philol. degree in 1919. His final paper, ''Det suspensive lovvetos anvendelse i norsk konstitusjonel praksis'', mixed history and constitutional law. He worked in the National Archives of Norway from 1921 to 1934, and then as the leader of the National Archival Services of Norway in Bergen from 1934 to 1960.
