Norway In The Eurovision Song Contest 2016
Norway participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song "Icebreaker" written by Agnete Johnsen, Gabriel Alares and Ian Curnow. The song was performed by Agnete. The Norwegian broadcaster Norsk rikskringkasting (NRK) organised the national final ''Melodi Grand Prix 2016'' in order to select the Norwegian entry for the 2016 contest in Stockholm, Sweden. Ten entries competed in a show that took place on 27 February 2016 and the winner was determined over two rounds of public televoting. Agnete Johnsen
Agnete Kristin Johnsen (born 4 July 1994), also known as Agnete Saba, or simply Agnete, is a Norwegian singer and songwriter. Johnsen is best known for being the lead singer of the Norwegian teen punk band The BlackSheeps. She represented Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 as a solo artist with the song "Icebreaker". Life and career Early life and career Johnsen was born on 4 July 1994 in Varangerbotn, Nesseby, located in Finnmark, Norway. She is an ethnic Sami and the daughter of Sami children's author Signe Iversen. The BlackSheeps were formed in 2008 while its members were attending school in their hometown of Nesseby. NRK P3 is a nationwide digital radio channel operated by the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK). Norway participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 with the song "My Heart Is Yours" written by Hanne Sørvaag and Fredrik Kempe. The song was performed by Didrik Solli-Tangen. Jan Fredrik Karlsen (born 17 June 1973 in Slemmestad) is a Norwegian artist manager and television personality. Karlsen has worked in the Norwegian music industry since his late teens working for popular Norwegian comedians/singer/songwriters Herodes Falsk and Tom Mathisen. Silya Nymoen (Silje Haugum Nymoen, born January 3, 1978) is a Norwegian singer-songwriter based in Oslo. She is the lead singer and songwriter in the band Silya & The Sailors.
