Northumberland Rugby Football Union
The Northumberland Rugby Union is the governing body for rugby union in the historic county of Northumberland, England and one of the constituent bodies of the national Rugby Football Union having been formed in 1880. In addition, the county has won the county championship on two occasions, and finished runners-up on a further five occasions. History The Union was founded in 1880 by six club sides. Rugby Football Union
The Rugby Football Union (RFU) is the Sports governing body, national governing body for rugby union in England. It was founded in 1871, and was the sport's international governing body prior to the formation of what is now known as World Rugby (WR) in 1886. It promotes and runs the sport, organises international matches for the England national rugby union team, England national team, and educates and trains players and officials. The RFU is an industrial and provident society owned by over 2,000 member clubs, representing over 2.5 million registered players, and forms the largest rugby union society in the world, and one of the largest sports organisations in England. County Championship Plate
The Bill Beaumont County Championship Division 2 (formerly known as County Championship Plate) is an annual rugby union competition in England between teams representing English counties. It was formed in 2002 as the County Championship Shield (a competition which is now played by tier 3 sides) - changing to Plate by 2010 and then to Bill Beaumont Division 2 by 2017. Division 2 is contested for by second tier teams in the RFU County Championship. Each county draws its players from rugby union clubs from the third tier and below of the English rugby union league system (typically National League 1, National League 2 North or National League 2 South). Newcastle Ravens Rugby Football Club is a rugby union team located in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. The current Chairman : Robin Davies History The team was organised to help encourage gay people to take part in the sport. The team was founded on 1 May 2006 by Dave Burke who was the first Chairman and Captain, and it is run by a committee of eight elected members. Morpeth Rugby Football Club is an English rugby union club based in Morpeth, Northumberland. The 1st XV team currently plays in North 1 East, having previously reached the national levels of the sport for the first time in 2019–20. Medicals RFC
Medicals RFC is a rugby union club in Newcastle Upon Tyne who have been in existence since 1898. They currently play in the Durham/Northumberland 1 league having been promoted from Durham/Northumberland 2 in the 2009-10 season. Medicals RFC are most famous for the 1995-6 side that reached the final of the RFU Pilkington Shield at Twickenham and won the trophy – beating Helston RFC, Cornwall 16 v 6. Gosforth Rugby Football Club
Gosforth Rugby Football Club is a rugby union team, currently playing in Durham/Northumberland 2 following the club's relegation from Durham/Northumberland 1 at the end of the 2017-18 season. The club was originally established in 1877, however in 1996 the club split in two. One half, Newcastle Gosforth (now Newcastle Falcons) went on to become the first ever professional rugby union club. Newcastle Falcons have been one of the most successful clubs in Northern England with 1 Premiership and 4 domestic cups to their name. The amateur Gosforth club was founded in the split. Scottish Regional League (rugby Union)
The Scottish Regional Leagues are the lowest levels of the Scottish rugby union system. They consist of three regions: * West Regional Leagues * East Regional Leagues * Caledonia Regional Leagues Unlike the Premiership, National League and parts of the League Championship, which were formed in 1973 and have remained roughly the same since, the Regional Leagues have grown over time, in a process which saw the old District Leagues amalgamated into the national structure. Berwick Rugby Football Club is a rugby union team that was founded in 1926, and reformed in 1968. The team is based in the town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, just over the border in England. They are affiliated to the English Rugby Football Union and the Scottish Rugby Union. They play in the Scottish Rugby Union . Berwick play their home games at Scremerston.
