David Northrup
David Northrup (born March 6, 1961, in Laramie, Wyoming) is an American politician and Republican Party member of the Wyoming House of Representatives representing the 25th district since January 10, 2023. Northrup represented the 50th district in the Wyoming House of Representatives from 2013 to 2021. Education Northrup graduated from Montana Tech of the University of Montana. ''Anson Northup'' (possibly ''Anson Northrup'') was a sternwheel riverboat named for her captain who was the first to navigate the Red River of the North from Fort Abercrombie, Dakota Territory, to Fort Garry, Rupert's Land, departing 6 June and arriving 10 June 1859. Sold and renamed ''Pioneer'', she sank during the winter of 1861–2. ''Pioneer'' was dismantled and her boiler reused by . Stephen Northup House
The Stephen Northup House (also known as the "Stephen Northrup House") is a historic house at 99 Featherbed Lane in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. History The original house on the site may have been built in 1660 with an addition around 1712 most likely completed by Stephen Northup Jr. The original building may have burned during King Philip's War, which destroyed most of the houses in the state in the 1670s.http://my02818.com/articles/2009/07/31/people/doc4a7105008f0a4138729342.txt Later owners made additions to the structure. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. The house is owned by the Bogue family. Solomon Northup
Solomon Northup (born July 10, 1807-1808) was an American abolitionist and the primary author of the memoir ''Twelve Years a Slave''. A free-born African American from New York, he was the son of a freed slave and a free woman of color. A farmer and a professional violinist, Northup had been a landowner in Washington County, New York. In 1841, he was offered a traveling musician's job and went to Washington, D.C. (where slavery was legal); there he was drugged, kidnapped, and sold as a slave. He was shipped to New Orleans, purchased by a planter, and held as a slave for 12 years in the Red River region of Louisiana, mostly in Avoyelles Parish. He remained a slave until he met Samuel Bass, a Canadian working on his plantation who helped get word to New York, where state law provided aid to free New York citizens who had been kidnapped and sold into slavery. Willard Close Northup (1882–1942) was an American architect in North Carolina, who was the principal partner in the firm Northup & O'Brien. His firm was based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Northup began his architectural practice in 1906 and partnered with Leet Alexander O'Brien (1891–1963) in 1915 or 1916. Luther Lashmit joined the firm in 1927, and was lead architect for Graylyn while an employee of the firm. Northrup & O'Brien was a firm that lasted from 1916 to 1953. It included partners Willard Close Northrup and Leet Alexander O'Brien and Luther Lashmit. It was based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Northrup-King Seed Company was founded in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1896, and was based there until it was acquired and moved to Golden Valley, Minnesota in 1986. It is now a division of Syngenta. Company history Northrup, King and Co. was founded in 1884 as Northrup, Braslan and Company. Its founders, Jesse E. Northrup and Charles E. Braslan, moved to Minneapolis from the Eastern United States. They chose Minneapolis because they believed seeds grown in the North were resilient and productive, and because they viewed Minneapolis as an ideal distribution center. They published their first illustrated seed catalog in 1885. It used striking full-color lithographs that made a strong impression.
