Northern Open
The Northern Open is a golf tournament played annually in Scotland since 1931. For some years it was one of only two 72-hole tournaments on the "Tartan Tour", the PGA Tour in Scotland's schedule, the other being the Scottish PGA Championship, but since 2019 the event has been played over 36 holes. The Scottish PGA Championship was originally called the Scottish Professional Championship and was only open to professionals while the Northern Open was also open to amateurs. History The tournaments were originally played over 2 days with 2 rounds played each day. In 1947 the event was extended to a third day with one round played on the first two days. The leading 50 players and those tied for 50th place played two rounds on the third day. Portlethen
Portlethen (; gd, Port Leathain) is a town located approximately 7 miles south of Aberdeen, Scotland along the A92. The population according to the 2011 census was 7,130 making it the seventh most populous settlement within Aberdeenshire. To the east of Portlethen lie three fishing villages: Findon, Downies and Portlethen Village (now often referred to as ''Old Portlethen''). Although Portlethen has been granted official town status, it resembles a residential suburb without a clear 'town centre' or focal point. David Orr (golfer)
David Duvall Orr (born October 4, 1944) is an American Democratic politician who served as the Cook County Clerk from 1990 to 2018. Orr previously served as alderman for the 49th ward in Chicago City Council from 1979 to 1990. He briefly served as acting Mayor of Chicago from November 25 to December 2, 1987, following the death of Mayor Harold Washington. Orr retired from the office of Cook County Clerk in 2018, opting not to run for an eighth term. Early life Born in Chicago, Orr is a graduate of Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. He was an instructor at Mundelein College in 1979, when he first decided to run for alderman. David Connor James Law (born 4 May 1991) is a Scottish professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. He won the 2018 SSE Scottish Hydro Challenge on the Challenge Tour and had his first European Tour victory, the ISPS Handa Vic Open, in early 2019. Amateur career In 2009 Law won two important match-play titles, the Scottish Amateur and the Scottish Boys Amateur Championship. He won the Scottish Amateur for a second time in 2011. Law was not selected for the 2011 Walker Cup at Royal Aberdeen Golf Club despite his win in the Scottish Amateur. Graham Fox (born 14 July 1957) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with South Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). He is an inductee in the Tasmanian Football Hall of Fame. Career South Melbourne Fox was recruited to South Melbourne from Tasmania, where he played for the Glenorchy Football Club. In June 1977, while with Glenorchy, Fox represented the Tasmanian Football League against Victoria. Three months later he was signed by South Melbourne and joined the club for the 1978 VFL season. Used as a rover by South Melbourne, Fox debuted in round two, against Hawthorn at Lake Oval. He had 10 disposals and kicked two goals. Alastair Forsyth
Alastair Forsyth (born 5 February 1976) is a Scottish professional golfer. Amateur career Forsyth was born in Glasgow, Scotland and grew up supporting Rangers. He was a member of a winning Great Britain & Ireland Jacques Léglise Trophy team in 1994 and he won the 1996 Scottish Amateur Stroke Play Championship. Professional career Forsyth turned professional in 1998. He won the MasterCard Tour Order of Merit in 1999, having won the St Omer Open Championship (not a European Tour event at the time) during the season. Forsyth has played on the European Tour since 2000, after being medalist at the qualifying school in 1999. In his debut season, he just missed out on the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year award, which went to England's Ian Poulter.
