Northern Ireland National Under-21 Football Team
The Northern Ireland national under-21 football team also known as the Northern Ireland under-21s or Northern Ireland U21s, is the national under-21 football team of Northern Ireland and is controlled by the Irish Football Association. The team competes in the UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship, held every two years. To date Northern Ireland haven't yet qualified for the finals tournament. The national under-21 team is the highest level of youth football in Northern Ireland, and is open to any players who were born in Northern Ireland or whose parents or grandparents were born in Northern Ireland. This team is for Northern Irish players aged 21 or under at the start of a two-year European Under-21 Football Championship campaign, so players can be, and often are, up to 23 years old. Richard Stephen Graham (born 5 August 1979) is a retired Northern Ireland footballer who is assistant manager for Wingate & Finchley. He played as a left-midfielder. Career Born in Newry, County Down, Graham began his career in the Queens Park Rangers youth system, making two first team appearances in the Football League, but he was released in 2001. He moved into non-League football, joining Barnet in 2004 and helped them return to the Football League. He was released by the club in April 2007, subsequently joining Dagenham & Redbridge in June. On 1 January 2009, Graham joined former club Kettering Town on loan for the remainder of the 2008–09 Conference National season. Aaron Martin Donnelly (born 8 June 2003) is a Northern Irish professional footballer who plays for club Nottingham Forest and the Northern Ireland national team. Shayne Francis Lavery (born 8 December 1998) is a Northern Irish professional footballer who plays as a striker for Blackpool and the Northern Ireland national team. Ryan Anthony Johnson (born 2 October 1996) is a professional footballer who plays as a defender for club AFC Wimbledon. He has also represented Northern Ireland at under-21 level. Johnson began his career in the youth academy at West Bromwich Albion before joining Stevenage of League One in 2013. Robert Garrett (born 5 May 1988) is a Northern Irish semi-professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for NIFL Championship side Bangor. He has previously played for Stoke City, Wrexham, Linfield, FC Edmonton, Portadown, and Glenavon. Anthony Charles Capaldi (born 12 August 1981) is a former footballer who made nearly 250 appearances in the Football League and is a former Northern Ireland international. Gordon Henry Simms (born 23 March 1981) is a Northern Irish former professional footballer who played as a defender. He played in the Football League for Hartlepool United. Career Simms made his Irish League debut aged 15 for his hometown club, Larne, before his performances soon earned him a move to England. Brian Kevin McGlinchey (born 26 October 1977) is a Northern Irish former football defender. He made a total of 195 competitive appearances in an eleven-year career as a professional player before he was forced to retire in 2006, aged 28, due to injury. Dale Anthony Gorman (born 28 June 1996) is a Northern Irish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Barnet. Gorman began his career at hometown club Letterkenny Rovers before signing a scholarship with Stevenage in 2013.
