Northern Colorado Bears Football
The Northern Colorado Bears football program is the intercollegiate American football team for the University of Northern Colorado located in Greeley, Colorado. The team competes in the Big Sky Conference at the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) level. The university's first football team was fielded in 1893. The team plays its home games at the 8,533 seat Nottingham Field on campus. The Bears announced the hiring of Ed Lamb on December 6th, 2022, replacing Ed McCaffrey, who went 6–16 in two seasons. Claude Edward Lamb III (born March 4, 1974) is an American college football coach and former player. In December 2022, he was named as the head football coach at the University of Northern Colorado. Lamb served as the head football coach at Southern Utah University (SUU) from 2007 to 2015. Western State Mountaineers Football
The Western Colorado Mountaineers are the athletic teams that represent Western Colorado University, located in Gunnison, Colorado, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports. The Mountaineers compete as members of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference for all 11 varsity sports. The Pittsburg State Gorillas football team represents Pittsburg State University in collegiate level football. The Pittsburg State football team was formed in 1908, competes in NCAA Division II and is affiliated with the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA). Kay Dalton
Orris Kay Dalton (May 4, 1932 – August 22, 2022) was an American former gridiron football coach. He served as the head football coach at Western State College of Colorado—now known as Western Colorado University—from 1961 to 1965 and Northern Colorado University from 2000 to 2005, compiling a career college football coaching record of 71–43. Dalton was also the head coach for the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL) from 1967 to 1969, tallying a mark of 7–31–4. The 1997 Northern Colorado Bears football team was an American football team that won the 1997 NCAA Division II national championship. The team represented the University of Northern Colorado in the North Central Conference (NCC) during the 1997 NCAA Division II football season. In their ninth season under head coach Joe Glenn, the Bears compiled a 13–2 record (8–1 against conference opponents), outscored opponents by a total of 489 to 249, and won the NCC championship. Robert L. Blasi (September 24, 1930 – September 27, 2023) was an American football coach. He was the head coach at University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado from 1966 to 1984, compiling a record of 107–71–3.
