Mary Harrod Northend was an American writer specializing in American colonial architecture and home furnishings. She is best known for ththousands of photographsshe either took or commissioned to illustrate her books and articles. Early life She was born in Salem, Massachusetts, on May 10, 1850, tWilliam Dummer Northendand Susan Stedman Harrod Northend. Her father, a descendant of colonial governor William Dummer, was a criminal lawyer and a state senator, as well as the author of a history of Massachusetts titled ''The Bay Colony''. Her younger brother was architect William Wheelwright Northend. She suffered from poor health most of her life and missed a great deal of school as a child due to illness. When she took up writing, she was in her fifties. Career Northend began publishing "short historical sketches" in newspapers in the early 1900s, taking photographs with her Kodak camera to illustrate them. Northend is a village in southern-eastern Warwickshire, England, located roughly halfway between the town of Banbury and the conurbation of Leamington Spa and Warwick. The population taken at the 2011 census can be found under Burton Dassett. The North End of Halifax is a neighbourhood of Halifax, Nova Scotia occupying the northern part of Halifax Peninsula immediately north of Downtown Halifax. History Prior to European colonization, the Mi'kmaq inhabited the land throughout Atlantic Canada and Northern Maine. The North End of Halifax began as an agricultural expansion north from central Halifax as African American and German Foreign Protestant settlers arrived in the province. Stewkley is a village and civil parish in the Buckinghamshire district of the ceremonial county of Buckinghamshire, England. The village is about east of Winslow and about west of Leighton Buzzard. The civil parish includes the hamlets of North End and Stewkley Dean. The toponym Stewkley is derived from the Old English for ''woodland clearing with tree stumps.'' The North End is a neighborhood in Saint Paul in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The neighborhood was built around Rice Street and is often referred to by that name. It is bounded by Larpenteur Avenue on the north, the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad tracks to the south, Dale Street to the west, and Interstate 35E to the east.
