Northeast Iowa Conference
The Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) is a six school athletic conference made up of mid-sized schools in the Northeast Corner of Iowa. The conference dates in 1920, making it one of Iowa's oldest existing athletic conferences. Members Departing members highlighted in red. Waverly-Shell Rock will be removed from the NEIC as of June 30, 2023, due to an imbalance of enrollment when compared to the other members. Likely landing spots for the school include the Iowa Alliance Conference or the Mississippi Valley Conference Invited Members The following school districts were invited to the NEIC on April 25 for the 2023-24 school year. Iowa High School Athletic Association
The Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) is the regulating body for male Iowa high school interscholastic athletics and is a full member of the National Federation of State High School Associations. Its female counterpart, the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union, (IGHSAU) is an associate member. Iowa is the only state that maintains separate governing bodies for boys' and girls' athletics. Sports overseen by the IHSAA are baseball, basketball, bowling, cross country, football, golf, soccer, swimming & diving, tennis, track & field, and wrestling. Sumner-Fredericksburg High School is a rural public high school located in Sumner, Iowa. It is one of four schools within the Sumner-Fredericksburg School District. It was a part of the Sumner Community School District until it consolidated with the Fredericksburg Community School District in 2014. History Sumner-Fredericksburg High School was established in 2004. It originated from the merger between the Sumner CSD and Fredericksburg CSD. Osage Community School District is a rural public school district headquartered in Osage, Iowa. The North Iowa Cedar League (NICL) is a high school athletic conference made up of 15 high schools in north central and northeast Iowa. Most of the schools compete as 2A schools, (the second-smallest classification). The conference's most recent expansions included: Columbus Catholic (2013), Sumner-Fredericksburg (2014), and Oelwein (2021). With the addition of Oelwein in the 2021 academic year, the conference will split into three divisions: East, Central, and West. Oelwein Community School District
Oelwein Community School District is a public school district headquartered in Oelwein, Iowa. Occupying sections of Fayette and Buchanan counties, it includes, aside from Oelwein, Hazleton and Stanley. , it had about 1,00 students.
