Northeast High School (Austin, Texas)
Northeast Early College High School is a public, co-educational secondary school in Austin, Texas. It is part of the Austin Independent School District. Northeast High School opened in 1965 and was originally named for John Henninger Reagan, a 19th-century U.S. Senator from Texas and the postmaster general of the Confederate States of America. Northeast High School was renamed before the 2019-2020 school year. Athletics For the first two decades of its existence, Reagan High School hosted a highly successful football program. Under coaches Travis Raven, Carroll Lundin and Wally Freytag, the Reagan Raiders formed a dynasty in Texas high school football from 1967 to 1994. In 1967, 1968 and 1970 the Raiders won Texas State Championships as well as being declared National Champions by then-US President Richard M. Nixon in 1970. The Lord Bless You And Keep You
"The Lord bless you and keep you" is a classical sacred choral composition by John Rutter, based on Numbers 6:24-26. It is a setting of a biblical benediction, followed by an extended "Amen". Rutter scored the piece for four vocal parts (SATB) and organ. He composed it in 1981 for the memorial service of Edward T. Chapman, the director of music at Highgate School, London, with whom he had studied when he attended the school. It was published by Oxford University Press in 1981, in the anthology ''Oxford Easy Anthems'', edited by David Willcocks. Ronald Kirk (born June 27, 1954) is an American lawyer, politician and member of the Democratic Party who served as the United States Trade Representative from 2009 to 2013 and the 57th Mayor of Dallas from 1995 to 2002. Born in Austin, Texas, Kirk is a graduate of Austin's John H. Reagan High School, Austin College, and the University of Texas School of Law. From 1994 to 1995, Kirk worked as the Secretary of State of Texas, until he was elected as the Mayor of Dallas, where he served from 1995 to 2002 and was the first African-American to hold either of those positions. Donna Smelser Howard (born October 25, 1951) is a Democratic member of the Texas House of Representatives, representing the 48th District since her election in 2006. William Briley Greif (born April 25, 1950) is a retired professional baseball pitcher. He played all or part of six seasons in Major League Baseball, from 1971 to 1976, for the Houston Astros, San Diego Padres, and St. Louis Cardinals. Astros Greif graduated from John H. Reagan High School (Austin, Texas). He was drafted in the 3rd round of the 1968 Major League Baseball Draft by the Astros, making his major league debut with them three years later. He was traded along with Derrel Thomas and Mark Schaeffer from the Astros to the Padres for Dave Roberts on December 3, 1971. Dawnna Dukes is a former Democratic member of the Texas House of Representatives. First elected in 1994, Dukes represented District 46 (East Austin) within Travis County from 1995 to 2019. In 2017, Dukes was indicted by a grand jury on 13 felony charges and two misdemeanor charges related to abuse of public office. Later that year, all criminal charges against Dukes were dropped, with prosecutors saying the charges should not have been brought forward. Brendan Kyle Akeem Christian (born 11 December 1983) is a sprinter from Antigua and Barbuda who specializes in the 200 metres. Born in Antigua, he is the son of Donald Christian who competed in the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal as a cyclist.
