An eight-member Indiana High School Athletic Association, IHSAA-Sanctioned Athletic Conference within the Northeastern Indiana counties of Adams County, IN, Adams, Allen County, IN, Allen, DeKalb County, IN, DeKalb, Huntington County, IN, Huntington, Noble County, IN, Noble, Wells County, IN, Wells, and Whitley County, IN, Whitley. Adams County, Indiana
Adams County lies in northeastern Indiana in the United States and shares its eastern border with Ohio. It was officially established in 1836. The county seat is Decatur. According to the 2020 census, its population was 35,809, an increase of 4.1% from 34,387 in 2010. The county has four incorporated cities and towns with a total population of over 15,000, as well as many small unincorporated communities. The county is divided into 12 townships which provide local services. There are four Indiana state roads in the county, as well as three U.S. Routes and one railroad line. In 2017, about a quarter of the county's population (estimated 8,600) was Swiss Amish that settled in the Southern half of the county around Berne. Bellmont High School is a public high school located in Decatur, Indiana, United States. It was founded in 1967. Bellmont is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and is rated as a comprehensive high school by the Indiana Department of Education. Decatur is a city in Root and Washington townships, Adams County, Indiana, United States. It is the county seat (and the largest community) of Adams County. Decatur is home to Adams Memorial Hospital, which was designated as one of the "Top 100" Critical Access Hospitals in the United States. The population of Decatur was 9,913 at the 2020 census. History The first non-Native American settlers arrived in what is now Decatur in 1835. They arrived as a result of the end of the Black Hawk War as well as the completion of the Erie Canal. Summit Athletic Conference (IHSAA)
The Summit Athletic Conference, or SAC, is a high school athletic conference consisting of ten high schools located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Three of the schools are private; one being a Lutheran academy, and the other two being Catholic preparatories. The rest are public schools, being part of Fort Wayne Community Schools. Two limited members are part of Northwest Allen County Schools and Southwest Allen County Schools. All member schools are located in Allen County, Indiana. Originally called the Fort Wayne City Series, the name was changed to the Summit Athletic Conference in 1973, when Harding High School joined. Norwell High School is a public high school located approximately 4 miles southwest of Ossian, Indiana. About Norwell High School opened in the fall of 1967 after a consolidation between Ossian and Lancaster Central High Schools. The first graduating class, the Class of 1968 was separated between the two schools while construction was completed on the current campus. Carroll High School is a school in Fort Wayne, Indiana, United States. It is part of the Northwest Allen County Schools and is accredited by the North Central Association. Allen County Athletic Conference
The Allen County Athletic Conference (ACAC) is a seven-member Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) conference. While all of its charter schools are and were located in Allen County, it also has member schools from Adams, Jay, and Wells counties. The ACAC, along with the Porter County Conference, are the only two county conferences left in existence. History The Allen County Athletic Conference began with nine schools in Allen County in 1956. The schools were smaller, rural schools, with the exception of Elmhurst, the sole Fort Wayne school that wasn't included in the Fort Wayne City Series. The conference was hit hard by consolidation, and the nine original schools were down to four by the 1968 season (and two of those were new consolidations). New Haven High School is a public secondary education school for grades nine through twelve. New Haven High School is one of five high schools in the East Allen County Schools district, Indiana. The district has adopted a unique method called “five campus”, meaning a student can take a class offered at any one of the schools in the district.
