North Tampa is a region that comprises the city of Tampa communities of Forest Hills, Harvey Heights, North Tampa (neighborhood), Tampa Overlook, Temple Crest, Terrace Park and University Square, and the areas in New Tampa. The region represents District 7 of Tampa City Council. North Tampa also comprises communities in unincorporated Hillsborough County such as Avila, Northdale, Carrollwood, University, Lutz and Lake Magdalene. North Tampa contains a section of Lowry Park, specifically, the neighborhood's North section. Avila, Tampa
Avila is an affluent neighborhood in North Tampa, considered to be one of the most exclusive communities in Tampa, Florida. The gated community is occupied by star athletes, socialites, and professionals. History Developer J. Robert "Bob" Sierra laid the groundwork for Avila in 1978. Surrounded by eight-foot walls, its name was inspired by the Spanish city of Ávila that was itself protected by imposing walls. Museum Of Science & Industry (Tampa)
The Museum of Science & Industry (MOSI) is a non-profit science museum located in Tampa, Florida. MOSI's funding is provided from private donations, corporate sponsors, and support from Hillsborough County and the City of Tampa. History MOSI began in 1962 when Hillsborough County first approved funding for a youth museum in Sulphur Springs. Named the Museum of Science and Natural History, it provided natural science exhibits and education programs to children and adults. The name of the museum was changed to the Hillsborough County Museum in 1967. Lake Magdalene is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hillsborough County, Florida, United States. The population was 28,509 at the 2010 census. Geography Lake Magdalene is located in northwestern Hillsborough County at (28.081294, -82.477945). It is bordered to the north by Lutz, to the east by the University neighborhood, to the south by the city of Tampa, to the southwest by Carrollwood, and to the west by Northdale. Interstate 275 forms the eastern edge of the CDP, and the Dale Mabry Highway (Florida State Road 597) forms the western edge. Lutz, Florida
Lutz is an unincorporated census-designated place (CDP) in Hillsborough County, Florida, United States, north of Tampa. The northern part of Lutz also makes up a portion of south Pasco County. The population was 23,707 according to the 2020 Census. History Lutz began with the construction of a small train depot on the Tampa Northern Railroad. The area surrounding the depot officially became known as "Lutz" when the U.S. Postal Service authorized a post office. The community was named for W. P. Lutz, who was credited with bringing the railroad to town. As people moved to the rural community from Tampa, the Lutz area continued to grow until it no longer depended on the "Lutz Junction", which was demolished in the late 1960s. Carrollwood is an unincorporated community in Hillsborough County, Florida, United States. It is part of the larger census-designated place (CDP) of Carrollwood, which also includes the neighborhood of Carrollwood Village.
