North Sea Cup (rugby Union)
The North Sea Cup was an annual rugby union championship for club teams from Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands, held since 2011. The championship was sanctioned by rugby's European governing body, the FIRA – Association of European Rugby (FIRA-AER). History 2011–12 The first edition of the competition was held in 2011–12, with six clubs participating, two from each of the three countries. The competition consisted of Boitsfort RC and Royal Kituro Rugby Club from Belgium, SC 1880 Frankfurt and Heidelberger RK from Germany and RC Hilversum and RC The Dukes from the Netherlands. In the first edition, each team was scheduled to play four games, playing only the clubs from the other two countries but not the team from their own. However, the last round was canceled, leaving each team with only three games played. Rugby-Bundesliga
The Rugby-Bundesliga is the highest level of the league system for rugby union in Germany, organised by the German Rugby Federation. The league is predominantly amateur, with only one club in the league being officially a professional outfit, the Heidelberger RK. From 2012 to 2015 the Bundesliga was expanded from ten to 24 and the league divided into four regional divisions of six teams each. Below the Bundesliga the 2. RC Frameries is a Belgian rugby union club currently competing in the Belgian Elite League. The club is based in Frameries in Hainaut. The official colours of the club are yellow and black. Dendermondse Rugby Club
Dendermonde RC is a Belgium, Belgian rugby union club currently competing in Belgian Elite League. The club is based in Dendermonde in the Flemish Province of East Flanders. They are currently the only team from Flanders in the top flight. The official colours of the club are green and yellow. History The club was founded in 1962 under the name of SOS Rugby Sint-Gillis. The club's first game was against ASUB Waterloo, ASUB, resulting in a 13-20 loss. Developing a strong youth following, the turn of the 1990s saw the club push on with the construction of its own complex in the Van Langenhovestraat region. and won its first Belgian League Title in 2012 having previously won the 2nd Division title twice in 1970 and 2010. The SC Neuenheim is a German rugby union club from Heidelberg, currently playing in the Rugby-Bundesliga. Having won nine men's and twelve women's German championships as of 2013, the club is one of the most accomplished in Germany.
